Fantasy Sharks

FantasySharks.com began in 2003, disseminating fantasy football content on the web for free. It is, or has been, home to some of the most talented and best known fantasy writers on the planet. Owned and operated by Tony Holm (5 time Fantasy Sports Writer Association Hall-of-Fame nominee,) Tony started writing fantasy content in 1993 for the only three fantasy football web sites in existence at the time.

I Hate John Madden!

I hate John Madden!  OK, that’s a little strongly worded.  I don’t really hate John Madden the guy, I hate John Madden the football announcer.  Madden has brought a lot of great things to the game of football and its ...

Thoughts on a Hybrid Keeper League

After posting yesterday's articles on my and Doug's thoughts on a Keeper league, it got me thinking about an e-mail I received from one of you last week. The premise of the e-mail was asking my advice on keeping a couple of guys for a hybrid keeper league.  This got me thinking...why in the world would anyone ever participate in a league like that!   Yuk!!

The Art of Drafting a QB

It's a fact. When to draft a QB can make or break your draft. Sure, running backs are taken early and often. There are only a finite number of them. But, that's also true of the quarterback position. So, why is it that QBs can literally be taken all over the draft?

Draft Day Strategy – That Guy!

Draft day is approaching and while there may be an unequivocal sense of excitement, right along with that feeling is the realization that 'That Guy' is going to be there. We all know him. We all despise him. He is annoying. He has a big mouth. He does not shut up. He comments on everything. He thinks he is hilarious - he is not. And the list goes on. Who am I talking about? Me? How'd you guess!

Dynasty League – Rebuttal

My first peek is to see how our new website is doing, and lo and behold, right there in the headline - I'm under attack! Geez! Talk about blind siding a guy! It appears that my editor Mr. Schare has "dropped the gauntlet." To which I reply: "It's GO time!"

Try a Dynasty League

You're a diehard football fan. You watch your favorite team every week, living and dying with the result. You're in a fantasy league with a bunch of your friends, and like me, you really just do it for the beer and pizza on draft day ([Homer Simpson voice] Mmmmmm, pizza....beer..."). You're out of the house, pounding beer, eating meat-only pizza, talking football with your buddies. Not sure it gets any better than that. Yet you're favorite team is struggling, and you wish they had made different selections on draft day. After all, couldn't you do a better job? Voila, you now have all the seeds for owning a dynasty franchise.

Running Back Anonymous

"Hi, I'm Doug Coutts." [I guess that means I'm in the room.]
"Hi, Doug, " responds the entire group.
"This is my first time here...." [I'm struggling to find the words]
"Welcome, Doug. It's ok, take your time," a voice calls out.
"Ok, I'm here tonight because....ummm...well...wow, this is hard to say..."
The person next to me puts a hand on my back and says, "it's ok, that's why we're all here."
I continue, "...well, I guess....yes, umm....ok, here goes [I take a deep breath] I'm addicted to running backs."
