IDP STUDS AND DUDS: Week 14 IDP Start/Sit

LB Darron Lee NYJ

Darron Lee has been an inconsistent IDP option this year, and the fact that less than half of his tackles in Week 10 were solos may give some IDP owners pause. This one’s in Buffalo against a team that leads the NFL in fantasy points allowed to linebackers, in from of arguably the most generous stat crew in the league.

START/BENCH: Week 14

QB Baker Mayfield CLE

That willingness and ability to shake off a bad play/half/game is going to serve Mayfield well over his NFL career. It could also serve fantasy owners well in Week 14, when everyone’s favorite spot-starter is back at home playing against a reeling Carolina team that lost four straight and risen all the way to sixth in fantasy points per game allowed to quarterbacks.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 14

LB Gerald Hodges ARI

Gerald Hodges has now tallied double-digit tackles in two straight games as the new MIKE (middle inside) linebacker for Arizona. There’s little reason to think he can’t make it three big stat lines in a row on Sunday.

DL_Jurrell_Casey_TEN_1

Last week, Jurrell Casey kicked off an outstanding string of late-season matchups with five tackles and a sack against Houston. That string keeps rolling right along this week against a Jets team that has allowed 26 sacks and the fourth-most fantasy points to defensive linemen this season.

START/BENCH: Week 13

RB Doug Martin OAK & LB Shaquil Barrett DEN

Now, given how the 2018 season has gone for Oakland, an endorsement from Gruden might seem like the kiss of death. But Martin’s 14 touches in last week’s loss to Balitmore were easily the most among Oakland tailbacks,

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 13

S T.J. McDonald MIA

McDonald has risen to 16th among defensive backs in Fantasy Sharks Default IDP Scoring. This marks the third time (at least) that McDonald’s been featured in this column this year, but the 27-year-old remains available in a surprising number of leagues.

START/BENCH: Week 12

WR_Sterling_Shepard_NYG_1

It takes a brave (or desperate) soul to start Sterling Shepard in Week 12. However, it's at least worth considering that the injury-ravaged Eagles secondary is now second in the NFL in fantasy points given up to receivers.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 12

LB Reuben Foster SFO

After missing the last two games with a bad hamstring, Reuben Foster got the gate in some IDP leagues during San Francisco’s bye week. However, that same team is back at it again in Week 12 against a Tampa Bay team that has been a Top 5 IDP matchup for linebackers most of this season.

START/BENCH: Week 11

RB Doug Martin OAK & LB Shaquil Barrett DEN

There hasn’t been much to smile about in Oakland this year. OK — there hasn’t been anything to smile about this year. But Martin’s actually been halfway OK since taking over for Marshawn Lynch — he’s totaled 250 total yards over the last three weeks.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 11

LB_Jatavis_Brown_SDC_1

Jatavis Brown’s been highly productive with an increased workload over the past couple of games, logging 11 total tackles in each of the Chargers’ last two contests. Against Oakland in Week 10, Brown did something that’s been a rarity for Chargers linebackers this year — play 100 percent of the team’s defensive snaps.

CORNERING THE MARKET: Week 10 Streaming Options for IDP Leagues

RB Saquon Barkley NYG & CB Chidobe Awuzie DAL

Before getting hurt, Awuzie was both one of the most targeted cornerbacks in the NFL and a productive IDP option as a result. The second-year pro was back in a full-time role last week against Tennessee, tallying seven total tackles and six solos. With a plus matchup looming with Philadelphia on Sunday night, Awuzie should keep the good times rolling in Week 10.

LB Mark Barron LAR / RB Corey Clement PHI

The numbers to note for IDP owners from the New Orleans game are six and 62. Barron amassed six solos (and seven total tackles) a week ago — a season-best for solo stops. He also was on the field for 62-of-71 defensive snaps, his highest percentage of the season.

START/BENCH: Week 10

WR Josh Doctson WAS

Doctson rebounded well last week, pulling down his first touchdown catch of the season in the second half. The former first-round pick has been thrust into a larger offensive role by injuries at receiver, and with Paul Richardson done for the season he’s going to maintain that larger target share.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 10

QB Kirk Cousins MIN & DE Markus Golden

This week’s matchup with Kansas City isn’t an especially good one — quite the opposite, in fact. But Markus Golden’s got legitimate DL2 upside the rest of the way, and finding that sort of ceiling on the defensive line this late in the game isn’t easy to do.

IDP STUDS AND DUDS: Week 9 IDP Start/Sit

LB Denzel Perryman LAC

Denzel Perryman was on the field for 82 percent of the Chargers defensive snaps against the Titans—the third-time in four games the fourth-year pro topped 75 percent usage. Against a run-heavy Seahawks team Perryman should see that much playing time or more.

START/BENCH: Week 9

RB Doug Martin OAK & LB Shaquil Barrett DEN

Doug Martin fumbled on his last carry in a Week 8 loss to Indianapolis, but outside that gaffe he was effective running the ball, racking up 89 total yards on 15 touches. The 29-year-old should have a decent chance at bettering those numbers in a battle of bad Bay Area teams Thursday..

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 9

LB K.J. Wright SEA & RB Ezekiel Elliott DAL

K.J. Wright, who had his knee scoped in the preseason, made his 2018 debut in last week’s win in Detroit, logging five solos and adding a pass defensed. That stat line isn’t going to win any IDP owners their week single-handedly, but the 29-year-old has an extensive track record of producing as an upside LB3 or more. He’s a priority pickup in any league where he’s available..

LB Jarrad Davis DET

Jarrad Davis has been known to have the occasional huge game to this point in his career, but consistency has been a major issue. He’s also nursing a calf injury that caused him to miss practice earlier in the week. But Davis was back on the practice field Thursday and draws a Seattle team in Week 8 that’s been giving up a ton of fantasy points to linebackers this season.

START/BENCH: Week 8

WR Keenan Cole JAC

Frankly, there's no real basis to expect Keelan Cole to break out again in Week 8 after he managed just six grabs for 62 yards over the last two games combined. But here's the thing—throughout his career Blake Bortles has had a propensity to look a lot better in London than he generally does stateside. If Bortles has a good game Sunday, Cole is the most likely beneficiary.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 8

RB Dalvin Cook MIN and LB Adarius Taylor TB

If there was one thing we most assuredly did not need in Individual Defensive Player (IDP) leagues this season, it was more injuries at the linebacker position. So of course, that’s exactly what we got in Week 7.

IDP STUDS AND DUDS: Week 7 IDP Start/Sit

DE Yannick Ngakoue JAC

Ngakoue certainly has a knack for knocking the rock away from quarterbacks. Of the third-year pro's first 21 sacks, nearly half (10) resulted in forced fumbles as well. Ngakoue has a great shot at following up last week's two-sack effort with another takedown at home Sunday—the Texans are second in the NFL in sacks allowed (25) and have surrendered the most fantasy points to defensive linemen so far this season.

START/BENCH: Week 7

RB Phillip Lindsay DEN

This week sets up very well for both Lindsay and Royce Freeman to make some hay for the Broncos. The Cardinals are both first in the NFL in fantasy points given up to the running back position and have allowed a tailback to find the end zone in every game this year. Ask Latavius Murray's owners what this matchup's like.

LB Preston Brown CIN

With Vigil out, Preston Brown will likely be counted on to play every down moving forward. Add in that Vontaze Burfict could possibly be looking at yet another suspension after cheap-shotting Antonio Brown Sunday, and there’s a chance Brown could see a boatload of tackle opportunities.

LB Tahir Whitehead OAK

Week 6 sets up well for an even better stat line from Whitehead—quite possibly his best of the season. The Raiders face a Seahawks team in London that is leaning heavily on the run game in recent weeks. Not only are the Seahawks presently leading the NFL in fantasy points allowed to linebackers, but Seattle has climbed to fifth in the NFL in rush attempts on the season.

This of course assumes that Dalvin Cook will be back in action when the Vikings face the Cardinals on Sunday. If he is, roll him out with confidence—the Cardinals have been abused with methodical efficiency by just about every tailback they have faced.

LB Cory Littleton LA Rams

Cory Littleton has piled up 35 total tackles over the first four games of the season, but he hasn’t amassed more than five solos in a game since the season-opener against Oakland. However, this week’s NFC West showdown sets up well for the third-year pro — Seattle has been so run-heavy the past two games that it is now surrendering the most fantasy points per game to linebackers.

DB Janoris Jenkins NYG

Given that Janoris Jenkins will likely spend much of Sunday on Michael Thomas (the most-targeted receiver in the NFL), you can bet the rent that the veteran’s going to have plenty opportunities. When that’s the case, “Jackrabbit” has shown the ability to get the job done for IDP owners — he has five solos in two-of-three games so far this season.

Josh Bynes ARI and Cooper Kupp LAR

Through three games Haason Reddick and Deone Bucannon have been relegated to spectator status, while Bynes has been elevated into the only every-down linebacker spot. Is that a wise move? Don't know. Don't care. All I care about is a Week 4 matchup with a Seahawks team that just handed Chris Carson the ball 32 times against the Dallas Cowboys.

LB Duke Riley ATL

Duke Riley’s been hit-or-miss from an NFL perspective, making a tackle on one play only to whiff or get beaten in coverage the next. Taylon Smith DAL tackles Saquon Barkley NYG

Jaylon Smith's performance is showing up in the box score as well—he has tallied 14 total tackles and a sack in two games, including 10 total stops in last week's win over the Giants. With Sean Lee looking iffy to play Sunday with a bad hammy (yes, Sean Lee is hurt…stunner), Smith could be on the verge of his best game yet in a plus matchup with the Seahawks.
