IDP RANKINGS: 2020 Rookie Class

DE Chase Young WAS

The 2020 NFL Draft has come and gone. It was an odd affair hosted from Roger Goodell’s basement that contained a number of puzzling picks and moments — chief among them whatever the heck was going on at Tennessee Titans ...

IDP PLAYOFF RANKINGS: Conference Championship Games

LB Blake Martinez GBP

In order to help you in the final quest for a fantasy championship (and a few laughs), I’ll be publishing IDP rankings each week during the NFL playoffs here at Fantasy Sharks. These rankings assume a league format where teams start two defensive linemen, two linebackers, two defensive backs and a “flex” spot or two.

IDP STUDS AND DUDS: Week 17 IDP Start/Sit

LB Austin Calitro and RB Josh Jacobs

The cold, hard reality is that the Jaguars current three-down starters at linebacker (Calitro and Donald Payne) are liabilities from an NFL perspective—the Jags are giving up 500-plus yards of offense with regularity. But the pair is cleaning up on the stat sheet, and that's all that really matters to IDP owners.

START/BENCH: Week 17

QB Ryan Tannehill TEN

Ryan Tannehill ranks fifth in fantasy points in Sharks League Scoring over the season half of the season and gets the best fantasy matchup in the AFC for quarterbacks going up against Houston.

START/BENCH: Week 16

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick MIA

Since Week 11, Fitzpatrick has quietly been a Top 5 fantasy option under center — thanks in large part to string of favorable fantasy matchups that continues this weekend against Cincinnati’s 29th-ranked defense.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 16

LB Sean Lee DAL

Lee actually missed practice all of last week but played through the injury, notching four tackles, a sack and an interception in a huge win over the Rams. It will be all hands on deck Sunday in Philadelphia in a must-win game..

IDP STUDS AND DUDS: Week 15 IDP Start/Sit

LB K.J. Wright SEA & RB Ezekiel Elliott DAL

K.J. Wright is right back in the same spot he's held for much of his professional career—a high-end fantasy LB3 with LB2 upside. The 30-year-old should lean toward the latter Sunday against the Panthers, who lead the league in fantasy points surrendered to linebackers.

START/BENCH: Week 15

RB Chris Carson SEA

It’s been a roller-coaster ride for Carson’s fantasy owners in 2019, but Week 15 sets up as a perfect storm of fantasy goodness. Carolina is allowing almost 140 yards a game on the ground this season, and with Rashaad Penny out for the season Carson will see a huge workload.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 15

RB Nyheim Hines IND

For the second straight game, Donald Payne hit double-digits in tackles, piling up 16 total stops. Getting that kind of production off the waiver wire this late in the season can be both a bacon-saver and a game-changer.

START/BENCH: Week 14

QB Jacoby Brissett IND

Brissett (and the Indianapolis offense) has struggled quite a bit of late. But this week a desperate Indianapolis team faces a Tampa Bay team that ranks 31st in the NFL in pass defense and fourth in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks in Sharks League Scoring.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 14

LB Sean Lee DAL

Sean Lee has been a lot more than just a cheerleader or a fill-in over the past few weeks — he had 12 tackles (nine solo) in last week’s loss to Buffalo and already has almost twice as many tackles as all of last year.

IDP STUDS AND DUDS: Week 13 IDP Start/Sit

DE Carlos Dunlap CIN

The Bengals may well be 0-12 after facing a Jets team Sunday that has peeled off three wins in row and just smoked the Oakland Raiders. But Dunlap's a solid IDP play in Week 13—the Jets have surrendered 42 sacks this season and the second-most fantasy points to defensive linemen.

START/BENCH: Week 13

RB Tarik Cohen CHI

Given David Montgomery's struggles running the ball this year, it makes sense for the Bears to get Tarik Cohen more involved offensively. Against the Lie-downs on Thanksgiving that could most assuredly be a good thing—the Lions have led the league in PPR fantasy points allowed to running backs much of the season.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 13

Lamar Jackson & Derwin James

It’s by no means certain that Derwin James will play in Week 13. And even if he does there will be rust and a snap count. But we’re also talking about a Top 5 fantasy defensive back when healthy. This is the kind of add that can win championships if James heats up in time for the playoffs.

IDP STUDS AND DUDS: Week 12 IDP Start/Sit

DE Yannick Ngakoue JAC

The Jaguars are struggling as a team, but that defensive front may be the single strongest position group on the club. All three of those stud DL are set up to feast Sunday against a Tennessee Titans team that leads the league in both sacks allowed (42) and fantasy points per game surrendered to defensive linemen in 2019.

START/BENCH: Week 12

QB_Derek_Carr_OAK_3

Derek Carr should have every opportunity to redeem himself statistically this week against the Jets in New York. The Jets are playing better, but the team still ranks 21st in the league against the pass and has given up the 12th-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 12

QB Ryan Finley CIN & Maxx Crosby OAK

Expecting another four-sack outing out of the fourth-round pick out of Eastern Michigan is likely being just a tad unreasonable. But Maxx Crosby’s now gotten to the quarterback in four of his last six outings, and only two teams in the NFL have surrendered more sacks in 2019 than the 41 the New York Jets have allowed.

START/BENCH: Week 11

RB Aaron Jones and QB Aaron Rodgers Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay offense runs through Aaron Jones, not Aaron Rodgers... as the calendar pages turn and the weather turns cold, Green Bay is that much more likely to keep grinding out wins with a punishing ground game and a stout defense.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 11

LB_Nick_Kwiatkoski_CHI_1

Kwiatkoski hasn’t just shown an ability to step in as a spot-starter — he’s also demonstrated the ability to pop a fat stat line. In just over three quarters against Detroit last week, Kwiatkoski piled up 10 total tackles (nine solo) while adding a sack and an interception.
