The shocker of the week was announced that QB Cam Newton of the Patriots tested positive for Covid-19 and the game was moved to a Monday Night game if there were no more positive tests. There were no more positive tests and the game was played Monday night.

The end of Summer has come and gone. It is the time where New England locals bid a fond farewell to the hummingbird although ours left officially on 8/31. When you are quarantining it appears that you seem to notice things like this.

A portmanteau is the creation of a word out of two words. Like smog is the combination of smoke and fog. My portmanteau is loffense. A combination of lacking with offense describes my season so far. I miss my offense and Will Fuller who went for 19 last week ended up with 0 points this week.

QB Drew Brees NO

The narrative for this week is that the following will occur: QB Drew Brees will pass for more than three touchdowns because that is what he needs for the overall record over former QB Peyton Manning. He passed for exactly four touchdowns and delivered the win.

TE_Zach_Ertz_PHI_1

I was leading by eight points as late as 11:15 p.m. on Monday Night and tight end Zach Ertz caught a touchdown to send the game into overtimes. Then I was up by those same two points until tight end Zach Ertz caught the game-winning touchdown and went for 30 points on me. I lose on the last play of the game.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone I know and don’t know. I will be giving thanks this year for what my family possesses. I wish your time with your family brings about a more Norman Rockwell moment with that turkey than a National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation sequence of events with the same type of bird.

What I noticed about football is that if a team is doing well or if a team is doing poorly they seem to mention the same list of issues. The only difference is the record of the team. I guess that means during football season there is always something to talk about.

Pumpkin_Head_Cleveland_Fan_1

Halloween is here and that means it is time for ghouls and ghosts and other costumes to take to the streets and haunt the early evening on Oct. 31. It is a trick and treat kind of week so I am going to mention all items coming into Week 9 that are treats. In this era of all things offense, there are plenty of treats to hand out.

Frost on Pumpkins

So get out and enjoy. The winter always feels longer in the Northeast. Our summer may have been a precursor to the real bitter cold winds yet to arrive. This in-between time keeps pulling at you until the first frost on that pumpkin on my doorstep.

QB Baker Mayfield CLE

When my wife asks me who Baker Mayfield is, it means the information she is seeing outside of the game is not properly aligned with the performance on the field. I hope Mayfield pulls it together but the message is just not completely all there. Just like my team this week.

Week 5 is a stepping off point for your fantasy football team. No matter what your record, realize that you must always go over and over the waiver wire. There will be a player acquired in the month of October who will propel your team forward; whether it is from an injury or just performance, be on the lookout.

QB Deshaun Watson HOU

Like an old friend coming back for a 20 week or so visit, the NFL is about to knock on the doors of our homes again. So welcome to the 2019 NFL season. There are lots of ups and lots of not-so-ups throughout an NFL year. When confronted with the complexity of it all you could get a brain cramp.

WR Keke Coutee HOU

First up are the surging Indianapolis Colts at the Kansas City Chiefs. I sense either brilliance from Patrick Mahomes or another scheme by the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts run-run-run and throw-throw-throw so I see the latter and another road victory this playoff season for the Colts.

RB Phillip Lindsay DEN

On the last week of our fantasy football season, RB Phillip Lindsay, RB James Conner, and QB Deshaun Watson went for a combined 70 points. Only Phillip Lindsay went for a 28 burger but that was enough. I have been winning by getting 90 points from my Top 3 players and coasting in.
