THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Division Round

RB Nick Chubb CLE

Cleveland will keep this game close. The lines makers don't think so, but we all know that the Browns are running well right now, in particular with their terrific rushing game. It's what will help to keep the score a bit closer..

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 17

Christmas Playoffs

This game is more about Dallas going to the playoffs than it is about Philadelphia winning. While there are better days ahead for Washington, they will lose a heart-breaker in a "win and in" game that they will ultimately lose.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 16

QB Andy Dalton DAL

Miles Sanders and Jalen Hurts may not rush for hundreds of yards against Dallas, it could end up being hundreds of miles if Philadelphia calls this game well offensively. Dallas however seems to have turned a corner and while they are nowhere near a Dak Prescott led offense, Andy Dalton has finally found just a little bit of mojo.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 15

RB Benny Snell PIT

Losers of their last two games, Pittsburgh is unraveling at just the wrong time. The injury bug has reared it's ugly head as Pittsburgh has struggled in spots they used to shine. There's nothing however, like a game against the declawed Bengals to get yourself right.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 14

QB Teddy Bridgewater CAR

It's not that Carolina is all that good, but they're better than Denver right now and that will show. The players on Carolina really like playing with Teddy Bridgewater, he's been very quietly, a very nice addition to the team and the locker room.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 12

RB Leonard Fournette & QB Tom Brady, Tampa Bay

Tom Brady is the Tortoise in our story. He'll be slow, won't be able to throw the ball more than 20-yards downfield but the Tortoise will keep coming. He'll keep grinding one slow plod at a time and while no one expects the Tortoise to beat the Hare, we all know how that story ends.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 11

RB Nick Chubb CLE

I know it's hard to believe but Cleveland is 6-3. Be a bit scared of your Eagles this week as the Cleveland defense matches up well with them. The stars of the game will be Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt as they smash through the Philadelphia front at will.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 10

WR_Julian_Edelman_NEP_2

Say it with me.. this is a transition year for New England, it'll be OK, you'll get through it. New England wants to do one thing and that's run the ball or die trying. The only difference between Baltimore and New England in this game is that Baltimore is actually really good at it.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 9

QB Kyler Murray ARI

For as good as Miami's defense is becoming, the Arizona offense presents a completely different challenge. There is so much speed coming at them from so many different places that this will be a tough team for them to try to defend against.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 8

TE Rob Gronkowski & QB Tom Brady Tampa Bay

Do you ever get the feeling that Bruce Arians isn't doing much more than bringing Brady a Gatorade when he looks thirsty? You will this week. Kansas City vs. Tampa Bay in the Super Bowl? Is it too early to just call it here in Week 8?

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 7

QB Deshaun Watson HOU

Poor Deshaun Watson, if he only had a team around him or a defense. It's going to be a long year for Houston if they can't fix their run stop defense and with Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones coming to town, the sledding doesn't get any easier for Houston.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 5

QB Justin Herbert LA Chargers

Justin Herbert looks like the real deal and that's great for the Chargers' future prospects. When you look at the two quarterbacks in this game, they'll actually be evenly matched; Herbert on his way up and Brees on his way down, are going to meet somewhere in the middle.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 3

Helmet_Houston_Texans_1

Here's the thing.. there are a number of teams that are already showing their stripes and Houston is one of them. This may as well be their Super Bowl here in Week 3 because after two weeks, the play has been horrible, the play-calling suspect, it's just a mess right now.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 2

QB Tom Brady Tampa Bay

Teddy Bridgewater won't be terrible, but this game is all about Tom Brady showing the world that he is far from done. It sounds like Godwin will miss this contest but it doesn't much matter, there are weapons galore in Tampa Bay.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 1

RB Marlon Mack IND

Jacksonville is in a tough spot. If what exiting players are saying is true, there isn't a lot of morale and that will show on the field. Indianapolis, in particular their offensive line and tandem rushing attack with Marlon Mack and Jonathan Taylor, is going to be way too much for the Jags defense to compete with.

HOME BASE: April Updates

UPDATE

It's been a few days since I've posted here. I got bogged down with the NFL Draft and all that means after the fact. We've been busy updating player databases, depth charts, assigning players further sub-positions (like making a DB a CB, FS or SS) and generally getting the player universe all tidied up for the launch of the 2020 fantasy season.

HOME BASE: March Updates

UPDATE

I thought that I'd give this a go. In the year of the pandemic, distractions like fantasy football can sometimes be welcome. Well wishes to anyone struggling with Covid-19, there's an entire species (primarily) attempting to do their part.

Welcome my fantasy brethren to another edition of The Prognosticator, may it be a satisfying end game. Thanks once again to all of you for stopping by this year. If you’re still here, you’re hardcore, and I thank you for ...

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Division Weekend

RB Aaron Jones and QB Aaron Rodgers Green Bay Packers

I know many that are skeptical of Green Bay but they shouldn't be. Seattle just isn't the same team without Chris Carson and while Russell Wilson is most certainly a dangerous foe, Green Bay will be able to run all day on Seattle which will keep Wilson on the bench, right where he can't do much damage.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 16

QB_Dak_Prescott_DAL_1

Philadelphia at home with a potent passing game that while not as good as Dallas' can still compete. Dallas evens everything up with Dak Prescott, his receivers, and a soft Philadelphia secondary. Expect overtime and expect drama.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 15

WR Kenny Golladay DET

Detroit have been the walking wounded all year long and this week is no different. You obviously want to play Kenny Golladay since he is the last man standing and wins "Survivor Mo-Town 2019".

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 14

QB Lamar Jackson BAL

Buffalo at home, may just have the horses to get this done but until Lamar Jackson stumbles and falls, ride Baltimore while the riding is good. Two great ground games go at it here; coming down to special teams and quarterback play to determine the outcome.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 13

Thanksgiving Game Cleveland Browns

It's Battle Royale II but this time it's in Pittsburgh. Cleveland is still reeling from the players they lost in the last fracas and this is going to turn into another very physical game with a lot of penalty flags being thrown. Expect both coaches to fan the flames in an effort to keep their teams motivated.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 12

RB Phillip Lindsay DEN

The mismatch this day will be when Denver runs the ball as Phillip Lindsay carves through Buffalo with his elusiveness. Be leery of the rest in fantasy as they'll all chip in to some degree but won't stand out this week.

THE PROGNOSTICATOR: Week 11

WR DeVante Parker MIA

Now that Miami is playing football again (a tip of the cap to those players for refusing to fold) this will be a surprisingly difficult game for Buffalo. While most would say Buffalo is the better team, in reality, in Miami, these two teams are evenly matched.
