DFS GEMS: Week 14

QB_Carson_Wentz_PHI_1

The idea this week is to save a bit of budget so we can spend it elsewhere and Wentz not only gives us a solid spot to save this week but he also might get us a quarterback with moderate ownership in GPP’s.

DFS GEMS: Week 13

RB Kareem Hunt, Kansas City Chiefs

You pretty much need a piece of the Kansas City offense every week if you want to secure your spot atop the GPP landscape. At $7,800 (DK) Kareem Hunt makes the most sense this week. Kansas City is set to massacre reeling Oakland and there will be plenty of work for Hunt in this contest.

DFS GEMS: Week 12

WR_Julio_Jones_ATL_1

The Atlanta at New Orleans tilt will have massive fantasy implications in Week 12 boasting the weeks highest over/under which is now up to 60... the fact that the Saints are 13 point favorites only implies a positive game script for Julio Jones and company.

DFS GEMS: Week 11

Taylon Smith DAL tackles Saquon Barkley NYG

Barkley is another guy we’ll need to spend up for if we want him, and this week against Tampa Bay, you’ll probably want him in a few lineups! Tampa Bay ranks in the Bottom 10 against running backs this season and has given up multiple touchdowns to the position in 4-of-9 contests this season.

DFS GEMS: Week 10

TE_Greg_Olsen_CAR_1

Back-to-back double-digit fantasy outings and a matchup against a Bottom 5 team against opposing tight ends is typically a recipe for success. When you consider the dearth of viable tight end options thus far this season, that pushes Greg Olsen into must-start territory.

DFS GEMS: Week 9

QB Kirk Cousins MIN

Another week, another great matchup for Kirk Cousins. He’s playing at a Top 5 level in season-long fantasy and hasn’t posted less than 17.5 DraftKings points since the Week 3 debacle against Buffalo. With a floor that safe and sky-high ceiling, Cousins makes a ton of sense coming in just below the top tier of quarterback pricing this week.

DFS GEMS: Week 8

RB Kareem Hunt, Kansas City Chiefs

Hunt was sensational last week and I want to thank him for giving me a Top 4 cash in a Week 7 GPP! This week presents another great opportunity for success as the Broncos and their 8th friendliest defense for opposing running backs visit Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs could score from any angle, at any point, so there is some risk that Hunt might get left out of the scoring party simply by bad luck.

DFS GEMS: Week 7

QB Mitchell Trubisky CHI

New England is currently allowing an average of 19.5 points per game to opposing passers, good for 10th friendliest in the league. This looks like a good spot for Mitch Trubisky to keep building on his success.

DFS GEMS: Week 6 – Hurricane Edition

RB Marshawn Lynch OAK

If you are looking for a solid back this week, look no further than Lynch. He isn’t getting traditional workhorse numbers but he is absolutely dominating red zone looks with 19 on the year so far. To put it in perspective that is 34% of the team total not including the quarterback position and more than all of the wide receivers combined.

DFS GEMS: Week 5

WR_Philip_Rivers_SDC_1

This one has shootout written all over it! The over/under has risen to 53.5 with L.A. possessing a 29.5 point implied total. Rivers should have ample opportunity to put up points against this middling pass defense so while he is one of the higher priced quarterbacks this week, he should easily provide good ROI.

DFS GEMS: Week 4

RB_Melvin_Gordon_SDC_2

The Chargers have a 28.5 point implied total and shouldn’t need to pass much in the second half meaning plenty of work for Gordon in addition to his usual clip of receptions. The only fear here is that the 49er’s don’t keep pace and Gordon gets rested. That could easily happen here so lets hope Gordon hits pay dirt early to get the day started.

DFS GEMS: Week 3

QB_Matthew_Stafford_DET_1

I fully expect the Lions to get baptized by the Patriots Sunday night but along the way Stafford should have ample opportunity to put up some decent fantasy points. He comes in at a nice price and is facing an expected positive game flow as 6.5 underdogs to the Patriots this week.

One of the more ridiculous weeks in recent memory is in the books and we certainly weren’t short for surprise performances both good and bad. One week isn’t enough of a sample size to start making definitive statements about teams ...

DFS VALUE PLAYS: Week 17

QB_Matthew_Stafford_DET_1

I almost went with Stafford’s opponent this week Brett Hundley at $4,800 but Stafford feels safer with all of his weapons intact. The Packers have allowed 14 touchdowns to opposing passers since Week 12 including two games where they gave up a ridiculous four touchdowns to the enemy quarterback!

PLAYERS TO TARGET: Week 17

RB_Kenyan_Drake_MIA_1

Drake is Miami’s best chance at victory in Week 17, which is just fine given the matchup. Buffalo has been absolutely hammered by opposing rushers on the year, including a 23.3-point outing (points per reception leagues) allowed to Drake in Week 15.

DFS VALUE PLAYS: Week 15

WR_Demaryius_Thomas_DEN_1

Who would ever thought it would be good for a team’s wide receiving corps to have Trevor Siemian back under center but that does appear to be the case when it comes to the Broncos. Demaryius Thomas had one of his best games of the season in Week 14 posting 8 receptions for 93 yards and a score.

DFS VALUE PLAYS: Week 14

WR_Larry_Fitzgerald_ARI_1

Aside from an expectedly sub-par outing against the Jaguars in Week 12, Larry Fitzgerald doesn’t have less than 70 yards receiving or less than 12 PPR points in the last five weeks. Despite his age, despite the lack of a running game, despite Blaine Gabbert under center - Larry continues to perform!

DFS VALUE PLAYS: Week 13

WR_DeAndre_Hopkins_HOU_1

It seems odd doubling down on wide receivers going against the Titans’ secondary but the match up is just too good to say no! Tennessee currently ranks as the 7th most generous defense to opposing wide receivers and has been absolutely pasted by wide receivers in two of their last three contests.

DFS VALUE PLAYS: Week 12

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger Pittsburgh Steelers

Roethlisberger has put together back to back monster games most recently posting four touchdowns against Kansas City in Week 4 of 2016 followed by a five touchdown outing against the Jets in Week 5.

TRADE SCHOOL: Trade Deadline Edition

QB_Cam_Newton_CAR_1

After the past two outings Cam is red hot so ideally you’ll need to find an owner who obtained a backup plan at QB when Cam was struggling early on in the season. Take a look at the Cam owner’s roster, if you think you can help him out, maybe take a swing at making a deal?

DFS VALUE PLAYS: Week 11

RB_Chris_Thompson_WAS_1

The second highest expected point total of the week belongs to Washington @ New Orleans with an over/under of 51. I hope he gets well soon but I think it's safe-to-say that countless fantasy owners across the land are happy to see Rob Kelley finally out of the way.

TRADE SCHOOL: Week 11

WR_Larry_Fitzgerald_ARI_1

The elder statesman among wide receivers continues to show why he’s an asset week-in and week-out. After hanging 10 receptions for 113 yards on the much lauded Seattle defense this past week, Larry Fitz finds himself in pretty much must start territory.

DFS VALUE PLAYS: Week 10

WR_Robby_Anderson_NYJ_1

I’m already recommending Josh McCown so I think its only fitting that I include his most desirable stack option in this list as well. Anderson has scored double digit fantasy points in four straight games including three touchdowns and 263 receiving yards over that span.

TRADE SCHOOL: Week 10

RB_Jordan_Howard_CHI_1

Coming off the bye, the Chicago Bears will face off against Green Bay at home. These two teams met back in Week 4 in a blowout win for Green Bay. The Packers have since lost Aaron Rodgers for an extended period and have given up 385 yards and 2 touchdowns to opposing backfields.

TRADE SCHOOL: Week 9

WR_Dez_Bryant_DAL_1

After putting up a stinker in Week 8, Bryant is a prime buy-low candidate. For those who must win this week, he faces the second best matchup for opposing wideouts – Kansas City. Thankfully the game is in Dallas and Dak Prescott is fresh off an absolute dud in Week 8.

DFS VALUE PLAYS: Week 8

WR_Keenan_Allen_SDC_1

The Patriots are usually great at taking away a team’s top option, making Travis Benjamin a sneaky play here but it's hard to argue with Keenan Allen’s target volume. This price is about the high water mark for me at wide receiver this week and Allen has the best matchup for the money.

TRADE SCHOOL: Week 8

RB_Devonta_Freeman_ATL_1

Devonta Freeman is without a doubt the back to own in Atlanta and is as good a bet as any to put up elite numbers any given week. He’s just shy of the “elite” running backs and a decent semi-buy low targets at the moment.

TRADE SCHOOL: Week 7

KC_Alex_Smith_KCC_1

The Alex Smith owner has been getting turned down every week as he’s tried to sell high on Smith and now that he finally has his opportunity, Smith is coming off by far his worst game of the season! This works perfectly for your needs.

DFS VALUE PLAYS: Week 6

WR_Danny_Amendola_NEP_2

Amendola ownership will be moderate but nowhere near that of Brandin Cooks or Chris Hogan. With New England a 9.5 point favorite, you’ll want to see him score in the first half before the game gets out of hand but a 20+ point effort certainly isn’t out of the question.

TRADE SCHOOL: Week 6

RB_Charcandrick_West_KCC_1

Remember when Spencer Ware was the starter in Kansas City? Yeah no one else does either but it happened! Running backs get worn out and this season’s rookie sensation Kareem Hunt is no exception to that rule. After Sunday night it looks like Charcandrick West is most valuable as Hunt's handcuff.

DFS VALUE PLAYS: Week 5

WR_Chris_Hogan_NEP_1

Tom Brady looks for Hogan in the red-zone where he’s received a team high 9 targets catching 3 for touchdowns so keeping up his current touchdowns pace isn't out of the question either. When it comes to the Patriots you never know who's turn it is for a monster night but the data and the film leads me to Chris Hogan this week.
