Briwoll Whale Shark Interview

Congrats Briwoll on becoming our 6th Whale Shark (1000 messages) on the Msg Boards!! Another newcomer this year to FantasySharks.com.
Thanks. I didn’t even post for the first month that I was signed up. After I started I posting, I was hooked. I didn’t get there as fast as some of the more dedicated (or is that obsessed?) posters, but I did get there.

So, I’ve been wanting to know. You can’t REALLY be from Area 51! What’s that all about. Just a UFO enthusiast?
Nah. Some may be able to tell you I’m a big Ravens fan and from Baltimore. I thought Area 51 just matched my avatar. I’m seldom serious.

Ah..I see. And what about that picture you have…what’s the story there?
That came about from the game Halo for the Xbox. That avatar is similar to the main character. Liked it, used it, simple as that.

Ok, so how long have you been participating in Fantasy Football?
I started out as a last minute replacement in a league I still participate in twelve years ago. I still remember my first pick was Rodney Hampton. Boy, I had no clue what I was doing!

And how many leagues are you now involved in?
This year I cut back to two leagues (one basic, one yardage). Last year I was in four and found it too hard to root for my guys. It seemed no matter who I had on my team, I would also be playing against them. Talk about screwing with my head!

And the Team Name(s). Any meaning behind them?
As I said, my first year I was a last minute replacement and wasn’t prepared for a team name. It was decided for me that I would be White Trash. I thought it was funny and it stuck. I could never change it now because I’ve won my division ten years in a row and it would be bad karma. In my other league, I’m simply the Trash.

So what do you think your best and worst pick of the year was?
My worst pick so far has to be Marshall Faulk in the first round. I knew he would get hurt and still couldn’t pass him up.

My best pick would have to be Steve McNair in the seventh round. I was the last player to take a QB and it has worked out well for me.

Cool. How about some NFL questions now. How about who’s your NFL team?
The Baltimore Ravens. I was so glad when we finally got a team of our own. I wasn’t old enough to remember much about the Colts and am sad to say I liked the Bengals before we got our own (or was that Cleveland’s?) team.

And your favorite NFL Player?
Usually whoever is scoring points for my fantasy team! I like the two Lewis’s. Jamal and Ray. Historically I like Joe Montana. He was the greatest.

How about a Super Bowl prediction from you.
Ravens 31 Minn 17 Just kidding.
I see Kansas City and St louis in the Super Bowl. KC will win 27 to 24.

Great. Let’s talk about FantasySharks.com a bit. How did you come to find us?
I read about it in Fantasy Football Index. Looked it up and joined to check out the content. Didn’t come back for a while but when I did I loved it. Haven’t left since.

How about your favorite FantasySharks feature or article?
Of course I like the Forums. My wife says I spend too much time answering the questions and finds it funny that I’m doing this interview. It relaxes me and keeps me out of trouble. I also like the Projections, Start/Bench list and Waiver Wire help. But mostly just reading and posting with the other sharks.

Ok. Let’s talk about the message boards. Have you been getting good advice from the members on the msg boards? Has it helped you this year?
Well, to be honest, I don’t start to many threads with questions about my teams. I usually have my opinions and go with them. Too many views could confuse me more! On some occasions, I have seen opinions posted on other subjects that have given me some insight on my own team and have used it to my advantage when making my decisions.

Any particular poster that you respect the most?
There are several that seem fairly intelligent, but the one I’ve talked to directly the most, is dynastyforce. He seems grounded enough. Some others like Hemol, Paddler (I’m impressed he watches NFL over there), Agenda42 (what is his agenda? Ask for me), hard 10, Supersock (another speedster), and of course Mattheuofva (does the boy sleep?) give some real thought to their answers.

Great. Last question. Still going to be with us at 2000 posts?
Sure. I might be there by the end of the season. If my wife doesn’t hide the keyboard. Thanks for having such a good site and to everyone involved in keeping it running.

Thanks again for being such an active poster on the message boards! And congratulations on becoming a Whale Shark!!
