IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 7

LB A.J. Johnson & FS Kareem Jackson Denver

Over his last two games, A.J. Johnson has piled up 17 total tackles, 1.5 sacks and an interception — production that ranks inside the Top-5 among linebackers in many fantasy scoring systems. Even headed into a less-than-ideal matchup with Kansas City, those numbers are just too good to pass up.

THE LOWDOWN: Week 6

Josh Bynes ARI and Cooper Kupp LAR

The Rams' offense isn't anywhere as intimidating as it was at this point last season, but one person who is definitely balling is Cooper Kupp. Kupp has been outstanding thus far, and is clearly the apple of Jared Goff's eye.

LB Jayon Brown TEN

Jayon Brown's a new-age NFL linebacker—a player who relies more on speed and sideline-to-sideline range than size. Brown had a sluggish first game for the Titans this year, but he's been making up for it ever since—the third-year pro ranks just outside the top-12 in fantasy points over the past four games.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 6

DL_Brandon_Graham_PHI_1

Brandon Graham may well have been drafted this year based on reputation, but with just 10 tackles and no sacks over the first month the 31-year-old was likely shown the door in most leagues. Graham exploded for half a dozen tackles and three sacks Sunday against the New York Jets.

THE LOWDOWN: Week 5

WR Chris Godwin TBB

Yes, several pundits had Chris Godwin as a solid WR2 heading into the season, but how many had him as a WR1... on his own team? Godwin has actually out-produced perennial WR stud Mike Evans, and if anyone tells you they had predicted that being the case in 2019, immediately consider that person a liar...

QB Russell Wilson SEA & DE Sam Hubbard CIN

Sam Hubbard’s held up his end of the deal and then some, piling up 27 tackles and two sacks and leading all defensive linemen in fantasy points in some scoring systems. The good times should keep rolling for him at least Sunday against Arizona — no team in the NFL has allowed more sacks over the season’s first month Arizona.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 5

LB_Benardrick_McKinney_HOU_1

Bernardrick McKinney isn’t the true every-down player that batterymate Zach Cunningham is, but over the past couple of weeks he’s been on the field well over 80 percent of the defensive snaps.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 4

LB Mack Wilson CLE

Mack Wilson’s five total tackles (three solo) aren’t the kind of stat line that sends IDP owners scrambling to the waiver wire. But Wilson played every defensive snap against the Rams. If he repeats that feat Sunday against run-heavy Baltimore, that stat line will beef up nicely.

THE LOWDOWN: Week 3

QB Josh Allen BUF

I had Lamar Jackson starting to make a meaningful impact in 2020, not this season – yet he has had two great games to open the season, and you can just see his confidence grow as a passer. Ditto Josh Allen and to a lesser extent Dak Prescott.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 3

RB David Johnson tackled by DB Tracy Walker DET

Usually, I’m not the type to beat the drum for deep safeties, and I will freely admit to a measure of skepticism after Tracy Walker kicked off the year with nine solos and an interception against Arizona. But Walker followed that effort up with seven solos and three assists against the Chargers, and no safety has more fantasy points than the 24-year-old.

IDP STUDS AND DUDS: Week 2 IDP Start/Sit

RB Matt Breida SF & LB Alec Ogletree NYG

Alec Ogletree may be full of it, but the reality is that IDP owners might actually be better served if the Giants struggle to get off the field like they did against the Cowboys. Dallas threw the ball a lot more than the Buffalo Bills will, so look for an improvement on Ogletree's six tackles in Week 1.

IDP WAIVER WIRE: Week 2

QB Russell Wilson SEA & DE Sam Hubbard CIN

Sam Hubbard went absolutely bananas in Cincy's surprisingly close loss, exploding for 10 solos (six solo) and two sacks. I beat the drum much of the summer for the former Ohio State standout, confident that if more snaps were there in 2019 more stats would be as well. Hubbard was on the field for 81 percent of the Bengals defensive plays in Week 1.

LB Jerome Baker MIA tackles TE Kyle Rudolph MIN

Flores is apparently all-in with Jerome Baker as well—the youngster from Ohio State has emerged as Miami's defensive play-caller and only true every-down linebacker. That's going to mean a ballistic crapload of tackle opportunities on a bad Miami defense—starting with a favorable IDP matchup at home against the Ravens Sunday.

IDP BARGAIN BIN: Late-Round Linebacker Values

LB Preston Brown CIN

Preston Brown isn’t being drafted like a three-down middle linebacker for a bad Cincinnati team whose defense could be on the field a ton in 2019. Or like a player who racked up four straight 100-tackle seasons while with Buffalo — including 144 total stops two years ago.

FANTASY FORECAST: Consistency 2019

RB_Todd_Gurley_STL_2

One of the most difficult tasks in head-to-head fantasy leagues is trying to determine who the “hot” and “cold” players will be in any given week. You can’t use historical or seasonal averages because, well … by their very definition, ...

IDP: THE 2019 FANTASY SHARKS ALL-VALUE ALL-STARS

DL_Trey_Flowers_NEP_1

Trey Flowers is also an excellent edge-setter, as evidenced by his 119 total tackles over the last two seasons. Flowers has finished inside the Top 20 defensive linemen each of the past two seasons. If he can goose that sack total a bit a move just inside the Top 10 is by no means out of the question.

D-FENCE: Defensive Streamers

LB Duke Riley ATL

Your team defense scheme can be like wearing plaid jerseys. Feel free to put on mash-ups of multi-checkered tops to shore up your injury or bye-week deprived roster. These fill-in squads can make great last-minute wardrobe fixes when your best outfit is in the lineup wash.
