THE DIVE: Week 17 “Trophy or Bust”

TE_Vernon_Davis_WAS_1

Although he hasn’t topped 50 yards receiving since Week 11, Vernon Davis has scored in two of his last three games. With a matchup against the New York Giants’ secondary who has allowed the most fantasy points including most touchdowns to opposing tight ends, Davis should be a key target for Kirk Cousins this weekend.

SHOW ME WHERE IT HURTS: Week 16 Injury Fallout

RB_Derrick_Henry_TEN_1

It seems that this injury will bring an end to Murray’s frustrating and inefficient regular season, but the good news for Tennessee is that it has a capable backup in second-year running back Derrick Henry. The 2015 Heisman Trophy winner has averaged a solid 4.7 yards per carry this season, compared to just 3.6 yards per carry for Murray.

THE DIVE: Week 16 “All I Want For Christmas”

RB_Dion_Lewis_NEP_1

With a matchup against the Buffalo Bills who have allowed the most points and 2nd most rushing yards to opposing running backs, Lewis needs to be started as an RB2 or Flex with high upside. He ran for 92 yards against Buffalo in Week 13, but should receive even more work this weekend.

ON SECOND THOUGHT: Week 16

LB_Ryan_Shazier_RB_Gio_Bernard_NFL_1

The Bengals are going to be down fast and bad in this game and they are going to be throwing a lot. Enter Bernard. He will have a nice game and will pay dividends to those willing to put him in their line-up.

SHOW ME WHERE IT HURTS: Week 15 Injury Fallout

WR_Antonio_Brown_PIT_2

Brown’s injury came at an unfortunate time for fantasy owners, as they’ll now be without the league’s best wideout for the remainder of the fantasy playoffs. In Brown’s absence, second-round rookie JuJu Smith-Schuster and fourth-year receiver Martavis Bryant figure to be Ben Roethlisberger’s primary receiving weapons.

THE DIVE: Week 15 “Re-Charged!”

TE_Jason_Witten_DAL_1

If you have been fortunate enough to find your team in the semi-final round of playoffs, then starting players with consistency and a solid track record of performance is key. Enter Jason Witten. Although he only received two targets last weekend, he did score for his 2nd week in a row.

FLAVOR OF THE WEEK: Injured Denver Broncos

Shirtless_Broncos_Fan_1

While the Broncos knew when they drafted him that Jake Butt may not play in 2017 they did not expect the same from 3rd round pick Carlos Henderson – he was injured in the preseason. Both are currently on season ending injured reserve, but both have a very strong chance of starting as soon as next season.

ON SECOND THOUGHT: Week 15

RB_Peyton_Barber_TBB_1

Peyton Barber is a sneaky pick for Week 15. He is available in 80% of leagues and has been looking good lately. Barber got 12 carries and ran for 58 yards last week. It doesn’t seem like much but it was better than Doug Martin’s production on Sunday, even though Martin started the game.

5 UP/5 DOWN: Week 15

QB Josh McCown NYJ

Josh McCown’s broken hand injury has killed Anderson’s production for the rest of the season. If you think Bryce Petty, or god forbid Christian Hackenberg, can duplicate McCown’s connection with Anderson, you will be disappointed.

THE DIVE: Week 14 “Playoff Push”

QB_Derek_Carr_OAK_3

Carr played his best game of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7 when Oakland upset their division rivals with a stunning comeback victory on the final play of the game. He will rise to the challenge again this weekend when Oakland hosts Kansas City who is allowing the 5th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks.

ON SECOND THOUGHT: Week 14

RB Peyton Barber TBB

At 98% available, a running back with a much better 2017 prognosis is Peyton Barber. What a breakout game this kid had on Sunday in Tampa Bay’s OT loss to the Packers. Instead of going with the tried and true Jacquizz Rodgers head coach Dirk Koetter went with the sophomore from Auburn and it turned out to be a great decision.

SHOW ME WHERE IT HURTS: Week 13 Injury Fallout

TE_Zach_Ertz_PHI_1

As of this writing, the Eagles have not yet stated that Ertz suffered a concussion, but given the severity of the hit, it seems likely that he is in the concussion protocol. If that’s the case, his future availability will obviously depend on how quickly he can clear the protocol.

RED LIGHT, GREEN LIGHT: Week 12

red-light-green-light

The loss of QB Deshaun Watson has not affected DeAndre Hopkins the way many feared as the prolific wideout has averaged 5.7 catches for 91 yards and scored twice over his last three contests while seeing at least 9 targets in each of those games.

ON SECOND THOUGHT: Week 12

RB Samaje Perine WAS

Samaje Perine might be the White Knight you are looking for to finish out your season. Perine is still available in 72% of leagues and that is a good thing for you. Perine rushed for 117 and a touchdown on Sunday’s 31-34 loss to the Saints. He has been looking great since getting the lion’s share of touches following the injury to Robert Kelly.

NEW AGE RANKINGS: Week 11

RB_Tevin_Coleman_ATL_1

Tevin Coleman is probably getting the majority of the action in the Atlanta backfield this weekend, since starter Devonta Freeman is in the league's concussion protocol. There's an argument to be made that Coleman could be starting at running back for over half the teams in the NFL.

ON SECOND THOUGHT: Week 11

TE_Vernon_Davis_WAS_1

With injuries to Jordan Reed and Niles Paul still lingering, Vernon Davis will continue to get a lot of looks. Picking up Davis if you have a need at tight end, which most of us do, could be the difference between a win and loss in this very important Week 11.

ON SECOND THOUGHT: Week 10

WR_Marqise_Lee_JAC_1

Marqise Lee is available in 65% of leagues and caught eight passes for 75-yards against the Bengals this weekend. Next week he will be facing the Chargers inconsistent defense. Lee seems to be coming into his own since Allen Robinson went down to injury
