Daily 10: June 1

10 – Hope you didn’t drop Bobby Abreu too quickly, with Matt Kemp headed back to the DL the part time vet returns to a full time role again.

9 – If you invested in an Angels OF or CI you needed to be patient, Mark Trumbo is rewarding those owners.  4 homers and 2 steals in the last week and batting .381 in the month of May.

8 – Mad Max Scherzer is coming around as we said he would, he only has 3 BB’s vs. 30 K’s in his his last three starts.  He’s going to give up a couple of well hit balls per game, but you can live with that with those type of K numbers.

7 – Middle infield eligibility warning, he isn’t available on waivers anywhere but Will Middlebrooks took some grounders at shortstop.  If Dustin Pedroia hits the DL as expected this is an option for the Red Sox to explore.  After all, Middlebrooks’ glove can’t be worse than Nick Punto’s bat, can it?

6 – While all the attention is on Ernesto Frieri and Scott Downs on the Angels, Jordan Walden quietly had a 0.73 ERA 0.89 WHIP 12 1/3 IP 12 K 2 W month.  Don’t forget about him and if you have the roster space for a high K middle reliever with closer potential he’s a great add.

5 – When Gavin Floyd goes bad he has a tendency to get real bad, but when he’s on he’s really good.  Take this as a buying opportunity as his next two games are against the Mariners and the Astros – the perfect remedy to get out of a funk.

4 – Jonathan Lucroy was criminally under valued, post injury I’m noticing Jarrod Saltalamacchia is too.  I should notice as this is the exact transaction I made in one league.  Hurting for a C in a one catcher league?  He’s your guy.

3 – Everth Cabrera and Quintin Berry are showing once again that the easiest offensive category to spot fill in-season is stolen bases.  The value may short lived, but 8 stolen bases in one week?  Yes, please.

2 – Dale Thayer is not a good pitcher and Huston Street is hurt now and if healthy come July will be traded, Andrew Cashner has been far from lights out but he’s the guy for the future.  If you’re speculating this is a solid play.

1 – Finally, if you have room for TWO speculative adds for closer look no further than Kansas City.  Like Street, if Jonathan Broxton is healthy he will be elsewhere come July.  Greg Holland and Aaron Crow are both capable middle relievers in the meantime and have closer potential for the final two months.  Be proactive.
