Each week this season in the Daily Blitz, fantasy analyst Nick Pagliuca will list what players he is targeting at each position. He will also mention one player at each position that should be avoided. Price and projected stats will be factored into the analysis. The key to daily fantasy is fitting players into your lineup based on price/production.
Week 7 will be focusing on DraftKings…
QB: I am targeting Blake Bortles ($6,200) this week. Maybe the dramatic win over the Bears will get the Jaguars going on offense. You have the option of pairing Bortles with one of his top WRs hoping to connect for a big day. The Raiders defense is ranked at the bottom of the league when it comes to stopping opposing QBs. I am avoiding the two quarterbacks below because they are outside the comfort of their home stadiums. Another option would be the other QB in this game, Derek Carr ($6,300).
RB: DeMarco Murray ($7,200) faces the Colts at home who were gashed by Lamar Miller. I am passing on the next tier of running backs and looking at those who are priced at a discount. Spencer Ware ($5,800) gets the Saints at home while Jamaal Charles ($5,700) is still being eased back into the mix. Charles is a high-reward player at that price, but Ware is the safer play. James White ($4,600) should see plenty of action in the Pats’ game plan against the Steelers on Sunday.
AVOID: Melvin Gordon ($6,400)
WR: If you are playing a stack this week, the Jaguars are very affordable. The combination of Allen Robinson ($7,300) and Allen Hurns ($5,000) is due for a breakout performance. Marqise Lee ($3,200) caught all six targets last week for 61 yards and has consistently seen about 6 targets per game this year. On the other side of the ball, the Raiders are worth a look with Amari Cooper ($7,900) and Michael Crabtree ($6,600). Your best bet could be to load up with players from this game. Is Jeremy Maclin ($6,700) poised for a breakout game? It is tough to tell, but the matchup is there again this week. Michael Thomas ($4,700) continues to impress, but his ceiling is much higher at home. Tyrell Williams ($4,400) offers plenty of salary relief as he takes on the Falcons in the dome.
TE: It appears that Rob Gronkowski ($7,200) is fully healthy and ready to play his normal role for the Patriots. However, I still think that Martellus Bennett ($4,500) offers a similar chance to break out in a game as Gronk does. Therefore, at a huge discount, I am still leaning towards Bennett. Travis Kelce ($4,500) could also have a big day against the Saints and Hunter Henry ($3,600), who has four straight double-digit games with increasing amounts in each game, cannot be overlooked at this price.
DEF: Patriots ($2,900) @ PIT, Titans ($2,500) v IND
