DAILY BLITZ: Week 14 (DraftKings)

Each week this season in the Daily Blitz, fantasy analyst Nick Pagliuca will list what players he is targeting at each position. He will also mention players that should be avoided. Price and projected stats will be considered into analysis. The key to daily fantasy is fitting players into your lineup based on price/production.

Week 14 will be focusing on DraftKings.

Favorite Play of the Week:

Week 13’s play of the week was Julio Jones and he did cash in with 21.3 points, but a TD would have been nice to cap off his day. He was nagged by an injury late in the game as well. For Week 14, I love Mike Evans ($8,900) at home against the Saints. After a quiet game last week, look for Evans to rebound with a 20+ point performance.

Best Values of the Week:

Colin Kaepernick ($5,800) was a flat-out bust in Week 13. The weather did not help in Chicago, but there is no excuse for a 2-point performance. He gets the Jets this week and you have to believe people will stay away from him after last week. I would consider him this week. At $5,400, Tyrod Taylor at home against the Steelers is a solid value play. Matthew Stafford ($6,800) and Jameis Winston ($6,700) would be the two safest options with upside for their price.

Jeremy Hill ($5,800) gets a juicy matchup with the Browns on the road. I would lock Hill and another higher-priced RB in your lineups this week such as LeSean McCoy ($8,200) or Melvin Gordon ($7,400). People may avoid DeMarco Murray ($7,000) because the matchup says Denver. However, the Broncos have not been great against the run and the Titans are at home off a bye. You can expect Murray to get plenty of touches.

Despite the tough matchup, the Packers will not be running the ball so Jordy Nelson ($6,800) could still find success. Kenny Britt ($5,200) salvaged his day last week on the final drive, but his numbers have been respectable this season posting double-digits in every game but three of them. Tyler Lockett ($3,700) showed why people expected him to break out this season. Sterling Shepard ($4,600) scored against Dallas in Week 1 and is the clear #2 option in the Giants offense right now.

Boom or Bust of the Week

Willie Snead ended up being a Week 13 bust, as did the rest of the Saints offense. It was strange to see them flop at home in the Superdome. You can have any Saints WR in this spot this week, but their ceiling is higher at home so I will not take one this week. I will go with Theo Riddick ($5,500) against the Bears at home. Riddick is the type to put up 8-10 or 24-26 DK points. I think he is trending in the 20-point range this week with at least 5 catches and a score.

Speaking Defensively

I tend to go with the value plays at this position so the choices would be:

Colts vs HOU, Jaguars v MIN, Dolphins v ARZ

Each team is $2500-2600 this week. I would not pay a lot for a defense this week. The Vikings ($3,900) face the Jaguars on the road as the top-priced option. There isn’t an elite defense at home this week.

Contrarian Stack: The Chiefs mini-stack was not a bad choice in Week 13. The four choices (Smith, Ware, Hill, Kelce) totaled 70 points and left you plenty of money to spend on other positions. The Buccaneers would be more of an obvious stack with Winston-Evans-Brate and Doug Martin if healthy. If Jacquizz Rodgers is going to start, then he can be used as well. There is not much of a contrarian stack this week, but my closest pick would be the Panthers QB/RB/TE combination.

Gambling: We are 2-for-2 on teasers with the Seahawks and Packers cashing in last week. Let’s make it 3 in a row this week.

6-point Teaser: Lions -1.5, Patriots -.5

Good luck to all!
