DAILY BLITZ: Week 3 (DraftKings Edition)

Each week this season in the Daily Blitz, fantasy analyst Nick Pagliuca will list what players he is targeting at each position. He will also mention one player at each position who should be avoided. Price and projected stats will be considered into analysis. The key to daily fantasy is fitting players into your lineup based on price/production.

Week 2 will be focusing on DraftKings …

Ryan Tannehill – $6,200 – Solid matchup at home and he comes at a very affordable price.

Marcus Mariota – $5,900 – Another cheap play at quarterback who faces Oakland. The Oakland defense has been lit up twice this season.

AVOIDCarson Palmer – $7,200 – at Buffalo.

Mark Ingram – $5,900 – Ingram had a tough time last week against the New York Giants’ strong front, but expect a rebound game at a great price in Week 3.

Melvin Gordon – $5,800 – Gordon is now an integral part of the San Diego offense due to all of the injuries.

Charles Sims – $4,900 – With Doug Martin out, it should be Charles Sims’ job now. He will help out with at least a few receptions as well.

Tevin Coleman – $4,500 – He gets New Orleans on Monday night and with tons of value at the running back position this week, I would take a stab with this back.

There are many value plays at running back this week.

AVOID:  Despite the cheap price tags, you need to avoid the Minnesota and Carolina backfields this week as those teams face each other with tough matchups.

Antonio Brown – $9,600 – This price tag is extremely high, but it could be worth it after Brown’s quiet game last week. If you can squeeze him in your lineup, he could pay dividends.

Brandin Cooks – $7,900 – You should target players from this game and expect to see plenty of points put up on the board.

Phillip Dorsett – $4,400 – Solid salary-saver who offers big-play ability as he steps in as the WR2 in Indianapolis due to the Donte Moncrief injury.

Keep an eye on the injured New York Jets wide receivers. Quincy Enunwa ($4,800) becomes an option if Brandon Marshall or Eric Decker were to sit.

Coby Fleener – $3,300 – I understand if you have a hard time plugging in Fleener after his slow start. The ability is still there, though. If you have given up, take a look on the other side of this game with Jacob Tamme ($3,200).

If you can pay up, Delanie Walker ($5,000) is a solid option to pair with Marcus Mariota.

I considered a couple cheap defenses this week: Miami ($3,000) and Cincinnati ($2,800). Miami will likely be the most popular choice as it faces Cleveland’s rookie quarterback.
