Daily Box Score Review – May 11, 2011

If you’ve been riding the
Sam Fuld express it might be time to start looking for a new mode of transportation.  Fuld’s average dropped to .238 with an 0-for-5 on Tuesday.

Matt Joyce, who is currently owned in just 26% of Yahoo! leagues, is now hitting .356 with three home runs and 14 RBI.  Joyce has been on fire having now hit in 11 of his last 12 games.

The Jays’
Rajai Davis may be struggling to keep his batting average near the Mendoza Line, but his wheels are to die for.  Tuesday night Davis turned a 2-for-5 evening into two stolen bases and a caught stealing.   Davis has now stolen nine bases on the season in only 71 at-bats.  Don’t worry about Davis’ average as he’s hit .305 and .284 in 2009 and 2010, respectively.  So get ahead of the curve and roster Davis as he’s available in 55% of Yahoo! leagues.

Jay’s catcher
J.P. Arencibia hit his fifth home run of the season.  He’ll be a drain on your batting average as he’s only hitting .239, but he will provide nice power.  Arencibia makes for a nice pickup for those of you that play in a league that requires two starting catchers.

If you’re one of the 21% of owners in Yahoo! leagues that still own the Nationals’
Sean Burnett you can safely drop him.  Burnett gave up two earned runs on one hit and one walk while failing to record an out on Tuesday.  Meanwhile,
Drew Storen recorded his eighth save of the season while lowering his ERA to a miniscule 0.46.

If you’re one of the owners holding onto the Reds’
Aroldis Chapman in anticipation of him being moved into the starting rotation or the closers’ role, you may want to reassess.  Chapman gave up three earned runs and failed to record an out during Tuesday night’s game versus the Astros.  Chapman threw only five of 19 pitches for strikes and has now given up six earned runs in his last inning of work.

After his 3-for-4 performance versus the Cards on Tuesday night the Cubs’
Darwin Barney is now hitting .331 with one home run, two stolen bases and 14 RBI on the season.  Barney, who is eligible at both 2B and SS, is available in 60% of Yahoo! leagues.
