DFS: $DPP Analysis – Week 4

Wide Receivers

Last week it was all aboard the A.J. Green train as he was the highest owned high salary player. He didn’t disappoint as he scored 30.1 draft kings points. He was 4th in wide receiver scoring as Stefon Diggs went crazy with 40.3, Brandin Cooks with 35.1 and T.Y. Hilton with 31.2 DK Points. It pays sometimes to be off of the value chalk plays as Rashard Higgins was the highest owned wide receiver but finished with 3 fantasy points. Michael Crabtree was the biggest bust with only 1.7 DK points at $7,400 DK.

$DPP Value Plays

Marqise Lee, Jacksonville Jaguars (DK: $4,500/$321 DPP — FD: $6,200/$564 DPP)
Lee comes in at a better discount on DK then he does on FD. Lee took a back seat last week to the Marcedes Lewis car show but he still received 7 targets to finish with 4 rec for 65 yards. He had 12 targets last week and gets to face the Jets in week 4 who allow 38.2 fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position. Look for the team to go back to Lee this week as he should see double digit targets again.

Kendall Wright, Chicago Bears (DK: $3,800/$345 DPP — FD: $5,400/$564 DPP)
Write went without a target last week but quarterback Mike Glennon only threw 15 times, as the Bears running backs carried the ball 38 times. Wright did have  10 targets the previous week. The Bears face the Packers and will need to throw a lot in this game so game script favors Wright being involved as a risky but low cost wide receiver.

Tight Ends

Last week was a waste land for tight end scoring. The highest scoring tight end was Marcedes Lewis who scored 3 touchdowns en route to a 28.2 fantasy scoring day. However, he was playing in London which wasn’t part of the main slate. Rob Gronkowski put up another monster game with 22.9 DK points. He was owned a criminally low 2.6% across GPPs. Jack Doyle coming off a 15.9 DK point Week 2 was the chalk play at $3,600 and came away with just 2.6 fantasy points in a game where his quarterback put up 259 passing yards. Our $DPP value play, David Njoku hit value. The lesson of the day? Try to target tight ends that play against the Colts.

$DPP Value Plays

Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys (DK: $5,000/$455 DPP — FD: $5,700/$633 DPP)
Witten was held to just one catch on Monday night but entered the week as one of the top fantasy scoring tight ends averaging 21.5 points. Expect a bounce back game and recency bias as the ownership should be lower this week. Dallas has one of the Top-5 team totals of the week with 27 points and are a heavy favorite.

Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts (DK: $3,400/$378 DPP — FD: $5,400/$711 DPP)
Do we go back to Jack? The Colts were a big surprise last week but they should be playing from behind against the Seahawks. While T.Y. Hilton deals with Richard Sherman, expect Doyle to see a good amount of targets underneath. After last weeks Chalk flop, his ownership will be way down.

It was a low scoring week for defenses as the Top-8 defenses scored between 10-14 points. The Eagles coming in as the highest owned defense scored just 4 points. The Steelers and Panthers were the next two highest owned defenses which scored 6 and 0 points respectively. The Redskins, Jets and Saints who were the Top-3 scoring defenses cost $2,600-$2,800 to own which provided by far the most value. It is something to consider when picking defenses.

$DPP Value Plays

Cleveland Browns Defense (DK: $2,400/$300 DPP — FD: $4,000/$500 DPP)
While Andy Dalton did throw a ton to A.J. Green, he was still sacked 3 times. I’m not convinced that this offense is back on track yet. The Bengals allow the 2nd most fantasy points to defenses with 13 fantasy points per game so if you need a punt option, the Browns will be a low owned option.

Oakland Raiders Defense (DK: $2,300/$329 DPP — FD: $4,500/$450 DPP)
This is another punt option that could show up big this week. The Broncos over the first 3 games have turned the ball over 6 times with 9 sacks. Khalil Mack has 2 sacks and 5 assists through 3 games. The Raiders defense needs just 6.9 fantasy points to make value.

Make sure to adjust your lineups accordingly to news and updates from the site. You can find the $DDP Report here and also from the menu bar where you will find it in the Projections tab.

Good luck in Week 4!
