DFS: DraftKings & FanDuel – Week 17 Value Plays

Happy New Year! It is hard to believe the season is coming to an end. Week 17 is going to be challenging as there will be a ton of teams resting their stars due to games that are meaningless.

Here are the teams you want to target players from that have something to play for in Week 17.

Baltimore, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Miami and Tennessee.

Arizona, Chicago, Dallas, NY Giants, Green Bay, Los Angeles Rams, New Orleans and Seattle and Washington.

Note that Tampa Bay has clinched a playoff berth but a win over Atlanta would have it play the winner of the NFC East, so there is some motivation there to win.

Chad Henne, Kansas City (DK: $5,100/$300 DPP — FD: $6,400/$376 DPP)

Patrick Mahomes is sitting out this week, giving Henne the start. This offense can still score with the B team and Henne looks like the best of the backup options playing this week. We don’t know yet the status of the other starters but if Tyreek Hill or Travis Kelce plays, I would avoid them as they could sit at any time. Stack Henne with Demarcus Robinson and Mecole Hardman. The Los Angeles Chargers are allowing 21.05 DraftKings points per game over the last four games.

Philip Rivers, Indianapolis (DK: $6,000/$375 DPP — FD: $7,300/$456 DPP)

This could be Rivers’ last NFL game if Indianapolis does not make the playoffs. Indianapolis has a chance with a win. It has a current projected total of 31 points so Rivers could put up better numbers then he has the last few weeks. In the previous matchup against Jacksonville, Rivers put up 19.82 DraftKings points with 362 passing yards and a touchdown. Jacksonville over the last four games has allowed the third-most DraftKings points per game (24.2 per game).

Running Backs

Ty Johnson, New York Jets (DK: $4,300/$860 DPP — FD: $5,000/$1,250 DPP)

Frank Gore will miss this game with a lung injury and could be the end of his career. La’Mical Perine is ruled out due to COVID; make sure Johnson isn’t ruled out due to contact tracing. If he is out the Jets would have to start Josh Adams. These teams have nothing to play for so there is no reason for Johnson to get free run in this game. We saw back in Week 13 he carried the ball 22 times against Las Vegas. New England has allowed the seventh-most DraftKings points to the position over the last four games (27.07 per game).

Alexander MattisonMinnesota (DK: $6,100/$359 DPP — FD: $5,000/$313 DPP)

Mattison will start this week as the team will rest Dalvin Cook. Mattison could be in for a big work day. He hasn’t played much since he missed a few games with appendicitis. In the previous meeting against Detroit, Mattison saw 12 carries for 69 yards. Detroit allows the eighth-most DraftKings points to the position in the last four games (26.45 per game).
