With nine weeks in the books, odds are good you have a pretty good understanding of how your season-long teams are looking. Some of your squads might be heading towards a playoff berth while others are on life support. This time of year you’ll start to see an uptick of DFS newcomers so be sure to take full advantage! There is a bit of a learning curve, so expect some dead money is GPP’s and some easy pickings in cash games. Make sure you get your hooks in the water, the fish will start to multiply over the next few weeks!
We had a pretty solid Week 9! Only one player turned out to be a dud and that was only due to being robbed of a touchdown. As always, we hold ourselves accountable around here so lets see how we did last week:
Joe Flacco QB, Baltimore Ravens – 17.14 points
This pick was looking a little sketchy at first but Flacco ended up putting together a nice little day when it was all said and done. Not bad at all for the $4,600 price tag.
Dak Prescott QB, Dallas Cowboys – 26.66 points
When I wrote last week’s article, Ezekiel Elliott was still suspended. Zeke ended up playing (for at least one more week) so the offense wasn’t forced to lean on Dak. Despite that fact he still produced a nice fantasy outing in Week 9!
Adrian Peterson RB, Arizona Cardinals – 20.70 points
37 carries will do that for you! I see no reason why the Cardinals won’t continue to feed Peterson but I think a good portion of this result can be attributed to the matchup vs the hapless 49ers.
Kareem Hunt RB, Kansas City Chiefs – 10.10 points
Hunt’s usage in this game was weird. He only played about half the snaps Sunday afternoon. Not sure if Andy Reid is trying to preserve his dynamic rookie but he needs to stop!
Lamar Miller RB, Houston Texans – 12.10 points
This offense is not the same without Deshaun Watson. While this was to be expected, it would be nice to see better games and more usage out of Miller down the stretch. Depending on Tom Savage for wins is ill advised.
Damien Williams RB, Miami Dolphins – 18.10 points
Nice game for Williams in the first game of the post Jay Ajayi era. The snap share between Kenyan Drake and Williams fairly close at 37-30 in favor of Drake. Drake had two more touches than Williams but Williams got the touchdown and gave us nearly 5 times return on our $3,700 investment!
Marvin Jones Jr. WR, Detroit Lions – 32.70 points
We nailed this pick! Marvin predictably torched the Green Bay Packers on Monday night roping in 7 receptions for 107 yards and 2 scores! Great game for Jones investors.
Dez Bryant WR, Dallas Cowboys – 13.30 points
We would have liked to see a score in such an enticing match up but it just wasn’t meant to be. the 13.30 points didn’t kill you but it doesn’t get you to the top end of the GPP cash either.
Michael Thomas WR, New Orleans Saints – 14.50 points
Given the match up this was a bit a of a let down. the Bucs simply had no chance in this one and Thomas wasn’t needed. Still, the 8 receptions for 65 yards is useful enough.
Tyreek Hill WR, Kansas City Chiefs – 15.30 points
That hail-mary/super-screen saved his day, but like I stated last week – all we need is one big play! A little extra on top would have been nice but nothing wrong with falling just shy of getting 2.5x return on our investment.
Jimmy Graham TE, Seattle Seahawks – 10.90 points
This wasn’t the big score we were hoping for but it likely didn’t kill your lineup. This is about the floor for TE’s facing Washington.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins TE, New York Jets – 4.00 points
Should have had a bigger week but ASJ was robbed of a touchdown by a bogus offensive pass interference call. We had it right, just got unlucky.
Onward to Week 10!
