Digging Deep: Bobby Scales?

If Bobby
Scales wasn’t on the New York Mets radar, he is now.

The
veteran infielder has been on an early season tear with the Triple A Buffalo
Bisons. Scales, 34, who was a late spring training addition to the Bisons
roster just had a streak of 12 multiple-hit games snapped when he went 0-for-5
against Syracuse on April 20.

“I’m a
huge believer in having a plan when you go to the plate,” Scales said. “You
have to have a solid plan when you go to the plate. It’s two-on-on. They have a
plan for you, the pitcher and the catcher. You have to have a plan.”

Scales’
.388 batting average is second in the International League. On a team as devoid
of talent as the Mets, an injury could force the Mets’ hand and call upon the
wily vet. Log this one in the back of your memory bank for later in the season.
