THE DIVE: Week 13 “Lasting First Impression”

Can you believe the fantasy football season is nearly over? Thankfully, there is still another week and playoffs (if you make them) still ahead. Week 12 included a few great Thanksgiving games as New Orleans continued marching on to its 10th win a row! New England returned from bye and were back on track with a solid win as it preps for another playoff run. Lastly, Christian McCaffrey and Amari Cooper both “went off” which translated to a generous serving of points for fantasy owners!

Let’s take a dive into Week 13.  Some fantasy teams will be vying for a playoff spot, while others are battling for a bye position. The weather for Week 13 may also be a factor in several games. The New York Giants and and New England home games both forecast rain, while the Green Bay home game at Lambeau Field should be chilly with snow flurries projected!

QB Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold are not the only rookie quarterbacks making a nice first impression this season. Baltimore rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson has averaged 164 passing yards, 95 rushing yards and totaled three touchdowns in two starts. With a matchup against Atlanta, who has allowed the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks, Jackson may be a great streaming option if your quarterback has a difficult matchup.

Week 13 projection: 150 passing yards, 75 rushing yards, 2 TD

RB Gus Edwards, Baltimore Ravens

In addition to Lamar Jackson, Baltimore has been blessed with another rookie who is making a statement. Running back Gus Edwards has earned the starting role and has been a workhorse with an average of 20 carries, 116.5 rushing yards and almost 6 yards per carry over his last two games! Edwards will visit Atlanta, who has given up the third-most fantasy points to running backs. Edwards needs to be owned and is approaching the low-end RB1 tier very quickly! Keep a close eye on his questionable status to ensure he will start this weekend.

Week 13 projection: 100 total yards, TD

WR D.J. Moore, Carolina Panthers

To continue to the trend of shining rookies, Carolina wide receiver D.J. Moore has become a favorite target for Cam Newton with 15 targets, 248 receiving yards and a touchdown over the last two games. Carolina will visit division rival Tampa Bay, who has surrendered the fourth-most fantasy points to wide receivers, including at least one touchdown yielded in every game this season. Moore should have another strong outing and can be considered a WR3 or Flex with high upside!

Week 13 projection: 100 receiving yards, TD

TE Gerald Everett, L.A. Rams

Sorry Jim, there is another “Everett” scoring touchdowns for the Los Angeles Rams! Gerald Everett is not posting huge receiving totals, but has caught three touchdowns in the last two games. With Cooper Kupp sidelined for the remainder of the season, Jared Goff will likely give Everett a few more looks each game.  Although Everett’s road matchup against Detroit is relatively neutral, expect even more targets especially in the red zone for the young tight end in Week 13.

Week 13 projection: 50 receiving yards, TD

D/ST New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans defense struggled mightily to begin the season, but has now earned double-digit points in three of their last five games. With 17 sacks and 12 takeaways over the last five games, New Orleans is beginning to resemble the intimidating defense built last season. Although Dallas’ offense has improved recently especially with acquisition of Amari Cooper, expect New Orleans to continue its dominating play on both sides of the ball this week and should shut down Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper.

Week 13 projection: 12 points
