DRAFT KINGS: Plays of the Week – Week 1

QUARTERBACK

  1. Kyler Murray $6400 vs. San Francisco 49ers (14th)
  2. Jimmy Garoppolo $5800 vs. Arizona Cardinals (32nd)
  3. Tyrod Taylor $5600 vs. Cincinnati Bengals (25th)
  4. Carson Wentz $6300 vs. Washington Franchise (29th)
  5. Gardner Minshew $5800 vs. Indianapolis Colts (17th)
  6. Drew Brees $6800 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (22nd)
  7. Tom Brady $6500 vs. New Orleans Saints (21st)
  8. Cam Newton $6100 vs. Miami Dolphins (27th)
  9. Matthew Stafford $6200 vs. Chicago Bears (9th)
  10. Mitchell Trubisky $5400 vs. Detroit Lions (28th)

Skinny: Kyler Murray kicks off the top of the preferred quarterback options…the Cardinals offense will go through Murray, in what should be a high-scoring affair and at $6400, it’s a decent value price to pay…Jimmy Garoppolo slides in as a somewhat surprising 2nd option as Murray’s counterpart…I know the 49ers receivers have been a bit banged up, but there’s still enough offensive firepower to make Jimmy G a strong buy, at this price, in an ideal match-up…Tyrod Taylor is a very sneaky high-upside play…we anticipate the Bengals defense being among the worst in the league…take advantage of Tyrod Taylor while his price is this low…the Saints/Buccaneers game should be as high-scoring as any in the league, so taking the plunge on Brees for $6800 or Brady for $6500 is a worthwhile investment as well…your eyes do not deceive you, I am recommending Mitch Trubisky at a bottom-basement price of $5400…listen, I get it…it’s difficult to push the button on Trubisky given his recent struggles, but the match-up could not be more ideal, and this type of play allows you to load up elsewhere.

RUNNING BACK

  1. Miles Sanders $6300 vs. Washington Franchise (31st)
  2. Josh Jacobs $6800 vs. Carolina Panthers (32nd)
  3. Antonio Gibson $4000 vs. Philadelphia Eagles (5th)
  4. Jonathan Taylor $5700 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (27th)
  5. Chris Carson $6200 vs. Atlanta Falcons (11th)
  6. Austin Ekeler $7000 vs. Cincinnati Bengals (26th)
  7. Alvin Kamara $7200 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1st)
  8. Nick Chubb $6500 vs. Baltimore Ravens (6th)
  9. Mark Ingram $5500 vs. Cleveland Browns (25th)
  10. Dalvin Cook $7900 vs. Green Bay Packers (21st)

Skinny: Miles Sanders operating in a workhorse capacity for the Eagles is going to equate to strong value for Fantasy Football…at $6300, Sanders represents extreme value…the match-up could not be more perfect for Josh Jacobs to get his 2020 off and rolling…the Panthers defense is in a complete rebuild, and they struggled against the run as much as anyone in 2019…I would expect similar struggles early in the 2020 season…many will view Antonio Gibson as the ‘free square’ given his reduced price tag of just $4000…it is OK to get excited about Antonio Gibson and the future that he could have in this league, while also tempering expectations in the short-term…I can still recommend plugging Gibson into your lineups, just don’t expect an RB1 performance…if I’m looking for one rookie RB to breakout in a huge way it’s Jonathan Taylor…I believe the Jaguars defense will be a dumpster fire this season, so there should be ample opportunity for the Colts to break in their fancy new toy…if I was going to pay up at the position, I would target Dalvin Cook…we have seen the way to beat this Packers defense is via the ground and pound strategy, and the Vikings are certainly capable of doing just this.

WIDE RECEIVER

  1. Terry McLaurin $5600 vs. Philadelphia Eagles (29th)
  2. Allen Robinson $6500 vs. Detroit Lions (31st)
  3. Calvin Ridley $6100 vs. Seattle Seahawks (15th)
  4. DeSean Jackson $4900 vs. Washington Franchise (20th)
  5. Marquise Brown $5100 vs. Cleveland Browns (6th)
  6. Davante Adams $7300 vs. Minnesota Vikings (26th)
  7. D.J. Chark $6300 vs. Indianapollis Colts (27th)
  8. D.J. Moore $6600 vs. Las Vegas Raiders (23rd)
  9. Odell Beckham Jr. $5900 vs. Baltimore Ravens (14th)
  10. T.Y. Hilton $5800 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (11th)

Skinny: I had to check and double-check the price on Terry McLaurin…I have no idea why he is just $5600…he’s the clear target leader for the Washington franchise and I anticipate them having to throw the ball a great deal in the opener…Allen Robinson at $6500 feels as safe as safe can get…the Lions were 2nd to last against the WR position a season ago, and although I do expect 1st round pick Jeff Okudah to help long-term, in the opener I’m expecting Allen Robinson to methodically take apart the Lions secondary…a year ago, DeSean Jackson kicked off his 2nd stint with the Philadelphia Eagles with a bang against the newly renamed Washington franchise…I believe we could be in store for an encore as Alshon Jeffery and Jalen Reagor are out in this one…I believe the game script in the JAX/IND game will favor a large passing volume for Gardner Minshew, and we know that Minshew has eyes for D.J. Chark…at only $6300 Chark is an absolute steal!
