Chase Edmonds, RB, Arizona
Edmonds should have been the number one waiver add this week in leagues where he wasn’t owned since Kenyan Drake went down with an ankle injury. Drake is set to miss at least two weeks and even though the Cardinals have a bye this week, the arrow is pointing way up for Edmonds. He’s been a solid backup the last few years and will handle most of the backfield work in Week 9 against Miami and probably Week 10 against Buffalo. He’s a must start in both of those games as he’s not only a good runner, but also a very reliable receiver.
Mike Davis, RB, Carolina
Davis has filled in nicely for Christian McCaffrey over the last six weeks, but he’s definitely started to tail off. He had a miserable game last week, posting just 36 total yards and it looks like Davis is down to his last start tonight against the lowly Falcons defense. That being said, Davis should still be started tonight in a plus matchup. He runs hard, is a great receiver out of the backfield and the matchup is right. Look for Davis to give owners a nice going away present because after tonight he won’t have any fantasy use.
A.J. Green, WR, Cincinnati
After the first five weeks, it looked like Green’s days as a useful fantasy asset were done. He was struggling to get open and wasn’t healthy. But, it appears that the Bengals have found a new role for Green over the last two games. Green has reinvented himself as more of a possession receiver instead of the big play lead dog that he’s been accustomed to over the years. In the last two weeks, Green has seen a whopping 24 targets. He has 15 receptions for 178 yards. He hasn’t found the end zone, but the new role is very positive for him moving forward.
Jarvis Landry, WR, Cleveland
Odell Beckham Jr. is out for the season with a knee injury so Landry gets a big bump in fantasy. He’s been very quiet so far this year and still doesn’t have a touchdown, but that should change soon enough. Landry is now going to be the lead receiver for the Browns and even though he’s never been the big play guy, he should see double-digit targets moving forward. He has some very favorable matchups coming up, starting with the Raiders this week. At worst he’s a high end FLEX option in Week 8.
Lock of the Week
Derek Carr, QB, Las Vegas
Carr has been a sneaky great option at the quarterback slot in 2020. Over six games this season, he’s averaging just over 19 fantasy points per game in standard scoring leagues. He has 13 touchdown passes to just two interceptions, but has also lost four fumbles. Amazingly though, he’s only owned in about 40% of Yahoo leagues. He should be added in your league, especially with a salivating matchup this weekend against the Browns. Carr is going to have a big day in Week 8.
