My-oh-my do we have some huge games this week! As of this writing there are 5 contests with a 50+ point over/under and you’ll certainly want a piece of those games. In addition, you’ll want to make sure you have solid ownership in a few other contests to insert a few differentiators into your lineup as well. There is a lot to go over this week so without further ado, let’s dive into it!
Mitchell Trubisky QB, Chicago Bears (DraftKings $5,600 FanDuel $7,500)
Trubisky stayed hot coming out of the bye posting a 31.3 point effort at Miami in Week 6. Brock Osweiler led a surprising Miami attack against the Bears last week which kept the game competitive until the very end – and kept Mitch passing! This week the Patriots come to town and if all goes according to plan, Tom Brady and Company should be able to light up the scoreboard a good bit despite facing a competent Bears defense. Brady is red hot coming off a huge win vs Kansas city last week and a worthy opponent across the field tends to aid in a quarterbacks production. New England is currently allowing an average of 19.5 points per game to opposing passers, good for 10th friendliest in the league. This looks like a good spot for Mitch to keep building on his success.
Baker Mayfield QB, Cleveland Browns (DraftKings $5,800 FanDuel $7,100)
I’m going back to the well with Baker this week because you know he’s due for a breakout game! As talented and dynamic a playmaker as Mayfield is, you have to think he gets loose sooner rather than later and this match up might be the spot. After a rather lackluster outing last week, his ownership should be middling despite the juicy match up vs. Tampa. The Bucs are averaging 28.4 points allowed to opposing passers which is the worst in the NFL and the over/under has risen from 48.5 to 50 over the early part of the week. There’s certainly room for success in this match up.
Joe Flacco QB, Baltimore Ravens (DraftKings $5,400 FanDuel $7,500)
There is always risk when it comes to starting Joe Flacco but given the match up I think that risk is balanced out. The Saints are averaging the 3rd most points allowed to opposing passers and Baltimore is a slight home favorite which usually bodes well for quarterback success. Flacco hasn’t been amazing this year but he’s currently Top-10 in passing yards on the year and should need all the firepower he can muster to beat the Saints. I like the stout Raven’s defense to keep this game somewhat in-hand but Brees and company will likely find ways to score despite their best efforts. With a 26.5 implied point total and a formidable opponent like the Saints, Flacco and the Raven’s offense should have ample opportunity to post nice fantasy numbers during this weeks afternoon slate.
Carson Wentz QB, Philadelphia Eagles (DraftKings $6,000 FanDuel $7,600)
Wentz is playing good football right now, posting 24+ points in each of his last 3 outings. The match up is a bit under the radar with the Panthers right in the middle of the league in terms of average fantasy points allowed to opposing signal callers. The game also owns a rather modest over/under for today’s standards, currently resting at 45.5. Knowing what both offenses are capable of, this game could be a sneaky spot for nice fantasy output with somewhat moderate ownership.
