The game stack of the week will be Tampa Bay vs. Atlanta. Expect heavy ownership on both Jameis Winston and Matt Ryan with Ryan being the most owned. Julio Jones, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin will be the top targets in this game. We have to wonder if Russell Gage and Brian Hill will be worth rostering with their prices having raised a few hundred dollars but are still fairly cheap. The Buccaneers have a good run defense so I would fade Hill and opt more for Gage. Calvin Ridley is priced up close to Chris Godwin’s price. The problem this week is value on this slate is tough to find so you will find yourself limited on how you will be able to stack this game.
Lamar Jackson ended up with nearly 20% ownership in tournaments, which were double of Kyle Allen and Drew Brees. He finished with the 4th top scoring at the position with 37.78 DrafKings points. Jackson was outscored by Jimmy Garoppolo, Dak Prescott and Josh Allen. Prescott and Allen went under 4% owned. The biggest bust was Deshaun Watson scoring just 5.96 DraftKings points at the 3rd highest price at the position. Jeff Driskel was the best value on the board with 27.46 DraftKings points at $4,600.
$DPP Value Plays
Baker Mayfield CLE (DK: $5,900/$365 DPP — FD: $7,500/$469 DPP)
Is this the week that Baker Mayfield has a breakout game? So far this season he hasn’t produced more than 22 fantasy points and last game was just the second time this season he has been over 20 fantasy points. It isn’t that he lacks weapons, it just hasn’t come together yet for this offense. This week Mayfield faces the Miami defense that allowed three touchdowns last week to the Bills and are yielding 17.89 DraftKings points to the QB position over the last four games. Considering that both Bobby McCain and Reshad Jones have been placed on injured reserve this week, the Dolphins are very thin in their secondary.
Ryan Tannehill TEN (DK: $5,300/$353 DPP — FD: $7,100/$473 DPP)
In the last four games, Tannehill has averaged 22.65 DraftKings points with multiple touchdowns in three of those games and a rushing touchdown as well. Tannehill did not face Jacksonville in the first meeting but Marcus Mariota had 304 passing yards in that game. Jacksonville’s defense has been decent over the last four weeks but they have not played any good passing teams. The field will be rostering Derrick Henry heavily this week so Tannehill makes a good pivot off that play.
Mitchell Trubisky CHI (DK: $5,100/$425 DPP — FD: $7,000/$583 DPP)
Yes this isn’t a sexy play from a guy that looked so bad last week but the field will be off of him in a really good match-up against the Giants that are giving up 28.9 real points per game and is 25th in passing yards allowed with 259 per game. In a week where value is scarce, you can get about 20 fantasy points with this play if things go according to plan and perhaps more.
For the 3rd straight game Christian McCaffrey was the highest salaried player. In those 3 games he is averaging 34.3 DraftKings points per game. His high salary has been justified as he was the top scoring running back scoring 33.1 DraftKings points. The highest owned running back was Josh Jacobs at 43% who put up a decent 17.4 DraftKings points. The biggest bust was Brian Hill at 38% owned with just 4.8 DraftKings points. The best value play was Jonathan Edwards scoring 18.7 DraftKings points at $3,000. His production came when Marlon Mack left with an injury.
$DPP Value Plays
Ronald Jones TBB (DK: $4,800/$400 DPP — FD: $6,000/$545 DPP)
Jones should go overlooked in this match-up against the Falcons as many will look to roster Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Jones has been inconsistent this season as he scored just 3.4 DraftKings points last week after putting up 23.6 points the week before that. Prior to last week, Jones was seeing 13 carries and 4 targets over the previous three games. The Falcons are middle of the league in run defense and allow 107.6 rushing yards per game. They have given up 20.9 DraftKings points to the position over the last four games so there is opportunity here for Jones.
Kalen Ballage MIA (DK: $4,400/$430 DPP — FD: $5,500/$611 DPP)
Ballage was terrible last week rushing for 9 yards on 9 carries and 5 catches for 8 yards and a touchdown. That wasn’t a typo, he had 17 total yards. Yet he is in play this week with the value that is available for on this slate. The team has released Mark Walton after a domestic violence incident and have Patrick Laird who had just one carry but caught 6 passes for 51 yards backing him up. He faces the porous Browns who are 26th in rush defense allowing 127.2 rushing yards per game.
Miles Sanders PHI (DK: $5,000/$556 DPP — FD: $5,600/$700 DPP)
Sanders was a value play last week and had 22.5% ownership but only scored 6.7 DraftKings points in a tough match-up against the Patriots. This week the rushing match-up is tough against the Seahawks who are 12th in run defense allowing 101.2 yards per game. The positive of this match-up is the 12 rushing touchdowns they have allowed which is tied for 3rd most in the league with the Chiefs and the Giants. The team just promoted another wide receiver from the practice squad so this offense is very thin.
