Welcome to FIRE and ICE – Your weekly source for what players will be heating up your starting lineups and which players will be as cold as grandmother’s icebox. Each week, I will reveal three players bound for greatness and three players who plan on spoiling fantasy players chances of getting a win.
QB Tom Brady – New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins
What any QB in the league wouldn’t give to be Tom Brady this week. The Dolphins are a downright dumpster fire. They’re bound to be picking in the top spot in next April’s 2020 NFL draft. If Lamar Jackson can carve a team up for 5TD passes what do you think is going to happen when the G.O.A.T heads down to South beach this weekend? Fire baby, straight Fire that’s what.
Projected Stat Line – 30 of 38 for 366 Yards Passing and 3TDs
RB Duke Johnson – Houston Texans vs Jacksonville Jaguars
Last week against the Jacksonville’s defense the Kansas City running backs gave them trouble all day. Damien Williams was able to stretch the defense hauling in 6 of 6 passes. This could very well go over in the same manner this week for Houston and Johnson is the same type of elusive pass catching back that could be a nightmare for the Jags defense to match-up with. Light the Fire of this talented multi-dimensional RB in your starting lineups.
Projected Stat Line – 13 Carries for 65 yards – 5 receptions on 8 targets for 54 yards and 1 TD
WR Calvin Ridley – Atlanta Falcons vs Philadelphia Eagles
Calvin Ridley was the lone bright spot for the Atlanta Falcons last week against a strong Minnesota Vikings defense. With all the attention being placed on stopping Julio Jones, Calvin was able to haul in 4 receptions on 6 targets for 64 yards and a score. That’s a 16.0 yards per catch average. He should be in line to do even more damage at home against an Eagles team that is not great in the secondary. The Eagles already rank in the bottom third (27th) of teams in the league in pass defense. Time to Fire up Ridley in your lineups.
Projected Stat Line – 8 Receptions on 10 Targets for 108 yards and 2 TDs.
