THE GREY REPORT: Week 16

Josh Johnson – – Still hard to trust him, especially on the road against a good Titans pass defense.

Adrian Peterson – – An iffy match-up will make it tough to count on ADP, though he is certainly capable of finding the end zone against anyone.

Chris Thompson – – Still not getting enough touches to justify starting, especially with a poor match-up.

Jamison Crowder – – Still can’t be trusted due to the QB situation, though this week the tough match-up on the road won’t help.

Josh Doctson – – Continue to forget about Doctson as he continues to struggle to produce.

Maurice Harris – – No fantasy value to be found here.

Michael Floyd – – No starting option to be found here either.

Jordan Reed – – Still battling that injured ankle/foot and with a tough match-up, it may be best to play it safe, even if he can suit up.

Vernon Davis – – Even if Reed is out, he will be hard to trust thanks to a tough match-up.

Dustin Hopkins – – While the offense had some surprising success last week, it is still hard to trust them in back-to-back weeks on the road against good defenses. Probably should look at a more consistent offense for your kicker.

Washington Redskins – – The defense has shown some flashes, but often has struggled and against a solid offense, it likely will be best to play it safe with another option.

Marcus Mariota – – Dealing with an injured foot and likely will be another week of feeding Henry, assuming he is able to play, which is sounding likely. So it may be wise to look at other options.

Blaine Gabbert – – If Mariota takes a turn for the worse, he would start. Would be next to impossible to trust him though.

Derrick Henry – – He kept the good times rolling and with a solid match-up, might as well keep riding him. Too bad the Titans didn’t utilize him properly all season long.

Dion Lewis – – Looks like with Henry finally rolling, it will be hard to count on Lewis. Maybe his receiving skills help, but he is just too risky to rely on.

Corey Davis – – Always capable of making a big play, but has been inconsistent and will get plenty of attention from a decent Redskins pass defense (Mainly the attention of Norman). So while he can get it done, is a risky play.

Taywan Taylor – – Not producing enough to justify a start.

Tajae Sharpe – – His production, or lack thereof, it quite alarming, so move along.

Darius Jennings – – Not doing enough to be considered fantasy worthy.

Anthony Firkser – – Has shown flashes, but would like to see him more involved before looking his way.

Ryan Succop – – The offense has the weapons to move the ball, but the Redskins defense is capable of slowing them down enough to force them to settle for some FG attempts.

Tennessee Titans – – The defense is coming off a huge day and could benefit from facing an offense that is on their 4th QB.

Lamar Jackson – – The rookie has shown flashes, but does face a good overall Chargers defense, on the road to boot. So while he likely should be able to do some damage with his legs, he likely doesn’t have a very high ceiling.

Gus Edwards – – Not the best match-up, but the Ravens will likely once again ride the running game and try to keep the Chargers offense on the sidelines as much as possible.

Kenneth Dixon – – A tough match-up likely won’t help him, especially with Edwards appearing to be locked into option A.

Michael Crabtree – – Coming off a goose egg, so remains a poor option, especially against a good Chargers pass defense.

John Brown – – Still not doing much, so continue to look elsewhere for fantasy help.

Willie Snead – – Coming off a decent game, but the receivers have been hard to trust with Jackson under center.

Chris Moore – – Still not getting many targets, so continue to look at other options.

Mark Andrews – – Still not producing enough to justify a start against a good pass defense.

Hayden Hurst – – Still not being used enough to consider him worth a look.

Justin Tucker – – The offense has been solid, but could struggle to finish drives and rely on the leg of Tucker for scoring.

Baltimore Ravens – – A strong defense can get it done against anyone, but will have their hands full with a Chargers offense that has been rolling. Still capable of making some big plays, but definitely a much riskier option than usual.

Philip Rivers – – Continues to roll, but a banged up Allen won’t help him against an elite pass defense. He is more than capable of producing enough to help and always has upside, but is a riskier play than usual. But always start your studs.

Melvin Gordon – – Expected to return from that injured knee and you should always start your studs. That being said, he does face a very stout run defense and may not be at 100%, so if you have other strong options, it woudn’t be a bad call to look at them. But don’t reach too far as Gordon can get it done against anyone and still is worth a start.

Austin Ekeler – – Still dealing with those neck and concussion issues and not looking good to go. Even if he can go, the expected return of Gordon won’t help his cause, so I’d find another option.

Justin Jackson – – The rookie is coming off a solid game, but the expected return of Gordon will likely mean his role is too small to justify starting. If Gordon is out, maybe he can get it done, though the match-up is a tough one.

Keenan Allen – – Dealing with an injured hip and could be forced to sit out (Looks like he could be the dreaded late kickoff game time decision, but at least he plays Saturday night). If all systems are go, he is one of the guys that can always be started.

Tyrell Williams – – His production continues to be lacking, so I’d recommend looking at other options. The injury to Allen could help, but still too risky, especially with a tough match-up.

Mike Williams – – Coming off a monster performance, but he has been very all or nothing. Is a risky play, especially with a tough match-up, but with Allen banged up, it could help his cause. Could be worth a look to see if he can stay hot, but he certainly is more than capable of disappointing you too.

Travis Benjamin – – Still not doing enough to consider him fantasy worthy.

Antonio Gates – – He did have a decent game last time out, but still really needs a rare touchdown to justify a start, so hard to count on him anymore.

Mike Badgley – – A tough Ravens defense could slow them down and force them to settle for FG attempts, so could be a good week to look at the rookie.

Los Angeles Chargers – – The defense has play makers and is hosting a rookie QB that is still learning his way, which could help their fantasy value.

Eli Manning – – Coming off a rough game and when it is announced you will start, that might mean your leash has been shortened. Not a bad match-up, but it may be best to avoid Manning just in case they decide to make a change mid-game.

Saquon Barkley – – Nothing like having your worst game at crunch time of most fantasy teams. Don’t give up on him and continue to ride the rookie as he helped you get this far, even with a less than ideal match-up.

Wayne Gallman – – Still not doing much, so move along.

Odell Beckham – – Still fighting that injured quad, so watch his status closely. If he can go, he should be a nice option per usual since the Colts pass defense is average.

Sterling Shepard – – Still just too darn inconsistent to feel good about his chances, especially on the road against a solid pass defense.

Russell Shepard – – Continues to be a poor fantasy option.

Bennie Fowler – – Keep moving along, no fantasy value to be found here.

Evan Engram – – Coming off a nice game as the only guy that really stepped it up. Still a risky play since he has been inconsistent, but the Giants may be forced to play catch up, which could help his cause.

Aldrick Rosas – – Hard to trust an offense coming off a shutout, especially when they go on the road to face a defense that just shutout another offense (Don’t mess with the double shutout paradigm.)

New York Giants – – The defense will have its hands full against a good Colts offense, so you probably want to avoid them once again.

Andrew Luck – – Didn’t do much last time out, but should be able to get back on track thanks to a favorable match-up.

Marlon Mack – – Coming off a huge game and has another juicy match-up to exploit, so should be a good week to ride the Mack truck.

Nyheim Hines – – He is not getting enough touches to feel good about his chances, though he has a little upside in PPR leagues, but still not your best bet.

Jordan Wilkins – – His touches continue to be too rare to justify a start.

T.Y. Hilton – – Not his best game last time out, but should be able to bounce back thanks to a nice match-up.

Dontrelle Inman – – Continues to disappoint, so you should continue to look at other options for your fantasy squad.

Chester Rogers – – Still tough to count on his services due to lack of production.

Ryan Grant – – His good times have just been too rare to consider him fantasy worthy.

Zach Pascal – – Still not doing enough to justify a look.

Eric Ebron – – Coming off a down game, but should be able to bounce back against an iffy defense.

Adam Vinatieri – – The offense should be able to put up points and get him plenty of scoring chances.

Indianapolis Colts – – The defense is coming off a big day and is facing an offense that has been struggling and coming off being shutout.

Cody Kessler – – Even with a good match-up, he can’t be trusted. There were single passes completed longer than the total yards he put up last time out.

Leonard Fournette – – Has a great match-up but that injured foot is concerning and could force him to sit of be limited. If he is good to go, he remains a worth option, especially since the Dolphins run defense is struggling.

Carlos Hyde – – If Fournette is unable to go, he could be worth a look thanks to a good match-up. But the Jags could look to get others more involved as well.

T.J. Yeldon – – Not touching the ball enough to consider him a viable fantasy option.

David Williams – – Apparently the Jaguars wanted to get the rookie some work, but still not on the fantasy radar. Though if Fournette is a no go, maybe, just maybe, he could surprise.

Donte Moncrief – – The Jaguars passing attack cannot be trusted.

Dede Westbrook – – Move along please.

D.J. Chark – – The risk is not worth the upside for any of the Jaguar receivers.

Keelan Cole – – Please, I implore you, avoid this situation.

James O’Shaughnessy – – The tight ends are in the same boat as the WRs, so look at another team for WR and TE help.

Josh Lambo – – The offense continues to be hard to count on, though maybe a solid match-up will help. I’d still prefer my kicker to come from a better offense.

Jacksonville Jaguars – – The defense is certainly capable of getting the job done any week and faces an offense that has run a little hot or cold.

Ryan Tannehill – – Coming off a tough week as he was cooled off and while he could bounce back, he will be way too risky against an elite Jaguars pass defense, so probably would be best to look elsewhere.

Kenyan Drake – – Who knows if his lack of use was the shoulder or something else. Hard to count on this inconsistent option, even with Gore dinged as they might try to give the rookie Ballage a little longer look. Not the ideal match-up either.

Frank Gore – – Expected to miss the rest of the season with that injured foot.

Kalen Ballage – – The rookie got a chance when Gore got hurt and he shined. Would expect him to see more action, but an iffy match-up and the presence of Drake still add risk. Maybe he could surprise, but I’d prefer to see him prove himself more.

Kenny Stills – – Cooled back off in a big way and faces an elite pass defense, so don’t want to risk relying on him at this crucial time.

DeVante Parker – – Coming off a goose egg, which shows why you don’t want to be considering him.

Danny Amendola – – Just not doing enough to consider him much of a fantasy threat.

Jakeem Grant – – Can’t be trusted, so move along.

Mike Gesicki – – The rookie is still not being used enough to justify giving him a look.

Jason Sanders – – The offense has come on, but still hit or miss and will have their hands full with a strong Jaguars defense. That could mean Sanders is the main scoring option, but also risks putting up very little.

Miami Dolphins – – The Dolphins defense has been inconsistent, but they have had a few monster days and could benefit from facing a struggling offense, so could be a good week to roll the dice.
