Top 5 Pick ‘Em
Season record: 23-27
Seattle -2.5 (vs. Green Bay) – There are two heavy trends that are still alive this Thursday night. The Seahawks have covered the spread or pushed in their last eight Thursday night games, while the Packers have lost all their last six road games. The Seahawks should be able to control this game if they can continue their success on the ground.
Los Angeles Chargers -7 (vs. Denver) – The Broncos are one of the worst road teams in the league as they have only won two of their last 14 games outside of Denver. The Chargers have been handling teams as expected, with their only two losses coming against teams that sit comfortably among the NFL elite.
Arizona -4 (vs. Oakland) – It looks like Byron Leftwich has figured it out. Give the ball to your best player and good things will happen. John Gruden and the Raiders continue their tailspin to the first overall pick as locker room dissension continues to rise. The Raiders have lost their last five games by an average of 20 points and have failed to score a touchdown in three of their last four.
Carolina -4 (@ Detroit) – The Panthers have had 10 days to recover from the pummeling in Pittsburgh last Thursday. While it certainly was a night to forget, the Panthers have shown that they can bounce back the following week after losses like this. They travel to Detroit to catch a reeling Lions team that has dropped three straight with an offense that is on the decline. Golden Tate was traded, Marvin Jones is banged up, and they have given up 19 sacks in the last three games.
Houston -3 (@ Washington) – The Texans are riding a six-game win streak and sit atop the AFC South. While the Redskins also control their division, they have been far less impressive. While Alex Smith doesn’t deserve all the blame, he has only passed for an average of 200 yards per game over the last five. The offensive line is banged up and Adrian Peterson is struggling, which does not bode well against this Texans defense.
Top Survivor Pick
Carolina (@ Detroit) – See above.
Pittsburgh (@ Jacksonville) – The Steelers are the second most popular pick this week. The Jaguars do not look like the same team as last year, but we all know Ben Roethlisberger struggles on the road, especially against the Jaguars. The Steelers also play the Raiders in a few weeks.
