FANTASY STOCK EXCHANGE: Week 13

In a fantasy football league, the most valuable asset is the team owner’s ability to know when to buy players who are on the cusp of breaking out and knowing when to cut loose a player who is about to go into decline. Much like the real world stock market, making the wrong decisions sometime can lead to cataclysmic consequences. If you are in a league where you can unload or load up on some of these players, do so!

QUARTERBACK

BUY LOW: Cam Newton, Carolina (Owned in 96.5 percent of leagues)

Cam Newton had a pretty sub-par match against the Jets last week, but don’t you Newton owners fret, he is going into some great matchups for those who are looking playoffs in the face. If you are wanting to get him, you’ll probably have to give up someone good, but for example I would much rather trade Matt Ryan away to get Newton.

SELL HIGH: Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco (Owned in 6.6 percent of leagues)

I have been waiting all season to get Jimmy G on my list and here is my chance. For those believing that Jimmy is going to be able to turn the 49ers season around, boy do I have some magic beans to sell you. Jimmy is going to be working on an offense where there is little to no elite offensive talent. If I am nearing playoffs or already in, I am not going to trust my chances to someone who came in for one drive (even if he did throw a touchdown). Do not buy-in on him, trade him to someone who really wants him.

RUNNING BACK

BUY LOW: Kareem Hunt, Kansas City (Owned in 99.6 percent of leagues)

Kareem Hunt sucked last week, but his fantasy playoff schedule is cake. I would trade almost any running back in the league for a player that is going to get to play against the Raiders and Dolphins. These are 2 games you can pencil in for big points. Don’t be discouraged by this week and trade for him pronto.

SELL HIGH: Latavius Murray, Minnesota (Owned in 77.5 percent of leagues)

I may be sounding like a broken record by now, but I can’t beat it into people’s heads that Murray is not going to be some golden goose for Minneosta. He is stuck in a 50/50 share and honestly, I believe McKinnon to be the better half of these two. If I had a chance to trade for McKinnon I would, so if you have Murray, you should find the McKinnon owner and make that trade before you get burned by him.

WIDE RECEIVER

BUY LOW: Davante Adams, Green Bay (Owned in 93.1 percent of leagues)

A couple of weeks ago, I recommended selling any Green Bay receivers, but now I’m a little high on Adams. Hundley looks to be getting a little more comfortable with the offense and Adams is his favorite target. Adams is having games against Tampa Bay and Cleveland coming up, giving two huge opportunities for big plays and then in Week 15 we may see the return of Aaron Rodgers which would be in time for a fantasy championship. Buy him now while people are still unsure of him.

SELL HIGH: Robby Anderson, New York Jets (Owned in 71.4 percent of leagues)

Anderson is hot, even I can’t deny that, but it’s the Jets. Anderson has manged to haul in a touchdown in five consecutive games, that is something I just can’t see continuing. Pretty soon, defenses are going to key in on him and get him locked up and you don’t want to be the guy starting him when that happens. Trade him now for something you’re weak in and you’ll be happier for it in the long run.
