I heard a discussion about Allen on the radio the other day and the guest made the point that with QBs from weaker college conferences there's a lot which is hard to know because it's hard to know exactly how strong those programs are in terms of all the 'intangibles' we take for granted from the big conferences and power programs.
They talked about weight rooms, conditioning coaches, strength coaches, assistant coaches, atmosphere, ...
It was a long list of things that you wonder what Wyoming could possible actually have. So for a guy like Allen who clearly has all the physical skills you could dream of, but lacked consistent access to everything else, it was incumbent upon the Bills to fill in those gaps.
Clearly, it's worked, and this is something I've often said, it matters more where the player goes than where they came from. It also matters that the player wants to learn and improve and puts in the time and effort, but without strong leadership from the team they are on it won't matter.
So great story for the Allen and the Bills, makes me appreciate both player and team more than I thought I would.
