Well, that's what happens when you bet the farm on Mitch Trubisky.

Yep - his failures go well beyond just Trubisky.

*give Mack his money
*draft Devin White instead of Clellin Ferrell
*trade nothing of consequence for Jordan Howard
*don't sign Cory Littleton (cause you have White)
*probably need to sacrifice one more free agent for cap purposes - we'll go with Kwiatkowski, get one of the unsigned guys (Bradham?) still out there at the minimum'ish
*use the #2 not traded away on JK Dobbins
*pick Edwards instead of Bowden

Mack + D White + Dobbins + Bradham vs. Ferrell + Jacobs + Arnette + Bowden + Littleton + Kwiatkowski.

i Still like the dice roll though...they just whiffed on a few picks ESPECIALLY Ferrell imo Crazy i think the Raiders had were 1 loss away from getting the #2 overall pick and drafting Nick Bosa. Personally i would have let him walk too...i would have loved to have those picks.

Niners where in a similar position with Buckner. THey traded him to INDY for a 1st round pick (13 overall) and ended drafting Javon Kinlaw with that pick who I will has a chance to be better. Would have been nice to get Derrick Brown but ill take Kinlaw.

The dice roll is on the Bears though. They're the ones that moved all in.

Whiffing on picks is the problem with trading a stud. The Bears likely (definitely) would have whiffed on the picks too.

Ultimately, if the Bears are paying a ton of money to go 7-9 and sell some Mack jerseys, did they really win anything?

My Raiders buddy said "hey, at least we aren't paying Mack $23M this year"
Right, your paying Tyrell Williams and Marcus Mariota $23M this year :D

LOL

Meaningless wins are meaningless wins. They only matter to losers. And Republicans. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I guess there is some merit to that. If neither team won the Super Bowl, then both sides of the trade can ultimately be viewed as a failure.

Exactly. And even in a perfect world where we didn’t trade Mack and did a far better job of drafting, no team with Derek friging Carr at QB is beating a team with Patrick friging Mahomes at QB.

And that last sentence showcases the wide variety of meanings of the F word.

I just asked my good friend and huge Bears fan about this, and I think he put it best: the Bears getting Mack is like a bald guy winning a comb.

I lol’d.

If the Bears had aborted the Trubisky experiment last year (or even the year prior) they would have won more games.

Would they have won the superbowl?

Unlikely, but the logic of that's the only thing that matters only applies to the Patriots. Or, applied...

One hopes.
