Gronk did what he did. You can't really try to argue about what Gonzo might have done, he also did what he did.

But what about what he did do.

He 6th all time receiving yards , 800 yards behind T.O. Who is 3 rd

8th all time recieving tds

2nd in all time receptions, with Jerry rice being first

He did this with 9 different Qbs and over 7+ different coaches

Gronk numbers are much further back, because of injury , but he has also had Tom Brady and BB.

Those are good on a yearly basis. His numbers match with elite WRs .

Does he match up with Gronk and his 9.9 yards per target?

Agree with Rugger and Big Red. Gonzo is The Greatest.

The numbers back this up.

Unless NOW everyone wants to play the "what if longevity" game.

Licker says his aunt recognizes with the male gender, so there’s that.

Gronk was a better, much more complete TE than Gonzo.

You mean like Gronks 4.76 40 time? Or Gonzales 4.49 40 time?

No doubt Gronk was a better blocker, but far less durable.

This is the key to it really.

Gronk was both an outstanding blocker and receiver.

Outstanding might be underselling it.

On a per game basis he dominated all other TEs just in receiving stats. He also had a 'long enough' career. Yes he was hurt a lot, he still produced at an elite level, and, he was even better in the post season than he was in the regular season.

I have nothing against Gonzo or Gates, they were both great.

They were not Gronk level great though. As much as Gates redefined how people thought about TEs, Gronk took it to another level.
