I thought since we are exactly 1 month away from the official start of the season, I would start a new thread!

Just reported today: The Gophers will play an outdoor game in the 2011-2012 season outdoors at TCF Bank Stadium! I am so excited and it's just been announced

It will be against a non-conference opponent. I'm guessing Michigan or Boston University.

Should be a great season in the WCHA this year! Here is how I think it will shake out:

1. North Dakota
2. SCSU
3. Duluth
4. Minnesota
5. Denver
6. Bemidji
7. Bucky
8. CC
9. UNO
10. Mankato
11. UAA
12. Tech

Penn State is adding varsity hockey. Announcement expected to come Friday.

That would make 6 Big Ten teams who sponsor men's hockey (the minimum needed for an auto-bid hockey conference)

Ugh :F

I am a big homer.

But DU has a very young team this season I hope I am wrong but I see us finishing closer to the 7 to 10 range.

Let the destruction of college hockey as we know it commence.

I would hope that we would schedule teams like und, umd, scsu each year as nonconference games. But still, it would be extremely dissapointing to leave the WCHA.

Yeah I was reading an article talking about DU. Said they've lost 49% of their goals and obviously Cheverie is gone. That's a big hill to climb, but DU usually puts together a formidable team.

Is Rhett Rhakshani gone? I always loved to say that name

Good game tonight. Solid showing against british columbia, 6-0 victory. The top line of Hoeffel-Haula-Barriballl looked good tonight, the Cepis line also impressed me.

Haula looked REALLY good out there, he was moving the puck around and even scored a goal. I really like pairing him with barriball and hoeffel. Hoeffel can bury the puck and barriball can score too. I hope they stay together because they could do some damage this year.

Jake hansen scored a couple, and looked good. Max gardiner definitely should have played a year in juniors, when he was on the ice tonight he was pretty ineffective. One of the freshman who really stood out to me was bjugstad, he's a big kid who isn't afraid to throw his weight around, he was centering Cepis and Budish tonight, that's another line that I like.

Going to need Ness and Fairchild to anchor the D core and one or two freshman to step up. But overall I like our squad this year. Should be a fun year! :D

This snippet taken from an insidecollegehockey.com article on the WCHA...

1. When Minnesota and Wisconsin go on the road, is it an early farewell tour? Penn State’s forthcoming foray to the college hockey world and the prospect of a Big Ten hockey conference has many fearing that the days of traditional rivalries like Minnesota-St. Cloud State and Wisconsin-North Dakota may be numbered.

Sorry INCH, but Minny-UND is the big rivalry in these parts. I'd venture most Sioux fans would rank Denver ahead of Wisconson on the rivalry list at this point in time as well.

Bucky and UND haven't had a heated rivalry since the water bottle incident.

You can just see it on the ice, they just don't like each other.

It all boils down to stuff that happened between players who no longer are there... but it makes for some fun hockey to watch.
