Mathias Kiwanuka's first season as a linebacker turned out to be a short one. The converted defensive end broke his left fibula on the second play from scrimmage of the Giants' 16-10 win over the Lions Sunday. The usual recovery time for such an injury is 6-8 weeks, which is why Tom Coughlin said Kiwanuka is "most likely" headed to season-ending injured reserve. "That is a very, very costly loss for us," Coughlin said. "We'll have to figure out a way to step it up." Kiwanuka, who had 4-1/2 sacks, will be hard to replace over the long haul. He was a big part of the Giants' dangerous, four-defensive end front they've used in passing situations. -- NY Daily News

That really hurts them. I think it showed last week when they absolutely blew it against the Viks.

I just hope they can recover and get back on track this weekend.
