..
..
Cook’s coming off a career year with the Raiders, and was close to an agreement with the Saints. He was close enough that he was willing to talk about how great it was going to be to catch passes from quarterback Drew Brees.

But if he thinks it would be “pretty awesome” to play with Brees, he’d likely be just as excited about playing with Tom Brady. And he can use that reality to try to get a little extra out of the Saints if he chooses..
..

Brees or Brady. Thank God.

A-A-Ron couldn't figure it out.. but Carr did.

He was injured about 50% of the season in GB. Only started 5 games. Played in 10.

Aaron missed Cook in coverage a lot, aside McCarthy's love affair with RichRod. Relates to play on field vs stats.

Hot takes! Get your hot takes here!

I point out a purely factual point that Cook was injured for a majority of his time in GB, and you come back with a hot take about how many times Rodgers missed him.

and here come the group thinkers right on cue.

Sure, you could look at the “snap counts” and “stats” and make a case he could have had a big year had he stayed healthy -
30 catches on 51 targets on 328 snaps in GB
68 catches on 101 targets on 787 snaps in Oak last year

but you dumdums would have been missing the point. Look at the play on the field and get back to us.

What were his redzone targets in GB? Did that correlate just as well?

There's always been an unrequitted Cook love-affair that only really paid out last year. If he goes to NO or NE, I think he'll be on the board later (unless his 'breakout' year last year bumps him up). I'm worried I'll pass him on this year like I passed on Kittle last year and didn't read the tea leaves.'

Raiders 2018- 16 targets, 10 completions, 4 TDs
Raiders 2017 - 11 targets, 2 completions, 2 TDs
GB - 10 targets, 6 completions, 1 TD

10 of his 51 targets in his shortened GB season were in the red zone

A surprisingly low 15 RZ targets in Oak

Yeah, something bigly happened in 2018. WHether or not that was 'clicking' with Carr or something else. I'm not sure if it's repeatable.

6 completions on 10 red zone targets but only one TD in GB sounds like bad luck. I just don’t see how playing with Brees, a guy who made the ghost of Ben Watson valuable, as a detriment. Especially with the dearth of top end tight ends, taking a chance on Cook doesn’t sound like that much of a gamble. Of course, like I said initially, monitoring his ADP will be critical on maximizing his draft value. I’m not too worried about it though because I think people are going to go a little crazy over this rookie tight end class which may lead to Cook getting lost in the ADP shuffle a bit
