He has.

Commented at the time this should be fun.

There are two sets of scouts.

One is setup where they always have been - the other is set up with Grudens precious "servers" of film.

This was the most likely outcome:

1. Find an excuse to fire reggies guys
2. Fire Reggies guys
3. If 2019 class fails? Blame Reggies guys (leaks, poor evals etc)
4. If 2020 class fails? Blame Mayock
5. Hire new fall guy/s
6. Repeat

Cant say Reggie has set the draft world on fire, but it would be disingenuous to ignore that this is in no way the optimal way to come into and run the scouting dept of a franchise either.

you need to win first to get people on your side

This can be spun a couple ways, depending on your stance w/Gruden and, generally, the Raiders.
I won't go over them, as they appear to have been reviewed here already.
Likely much ado about nothing .... except it's the Raiders.
Even when they are totally irrelevant, people care. Which is nice.

Nah. Theres no spin on this.

Banning scouts from a draft meeting less than a fortnight before the draft?

Thats a bad look for any team. Nothing special about that.

Q: When was the last time a team did that?
Q: When was the last time a team had two openly conflicting/ competing scouting depts?

Response to jam above:
Q1: Rams in 2017 and Browns in 2016
Bothe teams relieved or let go not only scouts, but scouting directors.

Q2: IDK. That's on Gruden.

Circumstances slightly different for CLE

But the Rams (3 x scouts, 1 x prop personnel director) is a good shout =D>

And we're 100% in agreement on 2)

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Raiders are considering "some sort of surprise pick" at No. 4 overall that would "necessitate absolute secrecy."

Why?

If it’s such a surprise why would 1-3 want it?

That would qualify as a surprise.

Not sure it would qualify as a pick though.

Maybe its a double, double bluff? :)

NFL n/w rumor that Seahawks offered #21 + Frank Clark for #4. I would assume that Raiders have already offered #35 for Clark.

Wait ... You mean they can afford to pay a veteran DE?

Long term? :)
