So pay him 8 million, take on a 25 million cap hit and not a single down for the jets?

Ya ok.

Yeah, Peyton doesnt strike me as the sort of guy whod just be there to say "Yes, Adam" - which is probably the #1 prerequisite for the job.

Hed be as good a hire as any right now, but hed be an awful fit for working w/Gase

The NFL would love it if Gase persuaded Manning into that position. He would get years at Jets for it. Probably a decade of sway in the NFL one way or another. Smart move by Gase. Can't imagine Peyton doing it though.

1. Gase wont want a guy he cant trust not to "undermine" him and "audible" out on him w/Personnel decisions as much as he did w/his playcalls on-the-field.

2. ... or to have a GM who would have WAY more sway thanks to his ability & playing career with Johnson than Gase

If Gase thinks Peyton will help his future prospects in NYJ, i think he might be mistaken.

If Manning has any doubts about Gase then I don't think he takes the job (and I don't think he does). If he goes for it then they are all in and have to be getting at least two seasons together.

Well, its not like Gase doesnt have a history of mis-steps in Miami.

So, i guess anything is possible really.

Im not sold myself (NY media being what NY media is), but im not invested either way.

Even beyond how much he might/ might not kowtow to Gase's opinions - Would Peyton want to be in a division with Brady still throwing and winning as a GM?

With Eli on the outs does he want to be front row and center on the towns rival?

Im not so sure.

I think w/Gruden gone ... now Mayock? Its Manning we're now going to see perennially linked to every vacant GM job.

Agreed. I think Peyton has too much common sense and probably isn't that desperate for a GM gig. It'll happen at some point though.

Peyton has gone out of his way to lobby for Gase for years.

Hadn't heard that. Depending on his opinion on Woody(and what sort of money he would offer), and also offering him full control.

The sheer ammount of commercials he could jump in would have to be a biggest bit of enticement(contract terminology perhaps written in to allow him to set his own schedule. A full on Manning family takeover of NY.

Probably would try for the five timers club on Saturday Night Live.

Could always be worse I guess. They could have signed Kirk Cousins. #brightside
