Square peg. Round hole.

Indy was a much better fit for where Brady is at in his career.

Did Tampa trade Mike Evans to New Englad for Julian Edelman yet?

I guess color me surprised but not shocked.

I didn't want my name attached to a Tom Brady thread though :x

Looks to me like someone has a secret Brady crush!!!! :party-smiley-050:

In all seriousness. As a Pats fan I was getting tired of watching tom lay down in the pocket because he has no protection and has no ability to scramble. Watching the playoffs last year I was jealous of Patty M and Jimmy....moving out of the pocket to buy time and extend plays. Tom can't do that.

As a pats fan I acknowledge that he was the greatest. I enjoyed the 6 rings and 9 SB appearances in 19 years. I'm thankful to have seen that and I realize it may never happen again. But, I'm glad he's gone and I'm ready for mediocracy! Plus there is a part of me that wants to see Bill do it with someone else. If he can win anything with other QBs that cements his legacy.

Godwin’s value feels more or less the same.

For some reason, a lot of people keep pushing the "Brady can't throw downfield" argument this year, although he threw 40 passes 16+ yards in 2019 - I think that should be around his average in all but the Randy Moss years at least. Brady has tailed off in other areas for sure, but based on watching the games and looking at stats it wasn't this one.

That said, I do agree that Evans is (probably) fool's gold in the draft this year and maybe Godwin is too. They were both garbage time heroes and I don't see games going that way as often with Brady as they did with Winston. Also, Winston seemed to have fewer options in his toolkit - part of me wonders if he was launching deep balls because he had to, and was only successful because Evans is the type who can make anyone look good. I expect Bruce Arians to push Brady for more deep throws than last year, but he won't suddenly transform into a downfield specialist - it will be heavily peppered with mid and short field tosses. I don't expect Arians to waste those options - he didn't with Roethlesberger and Luck, etc. if I recall correctly.

I see a lot bigger fantasy value for Brate and Howard. They aren't Gronk/Hernandez good, but they are good - and with the occasional launch into Evans/Godwin territory it will keep defenses guessing enough to keep them as the safest of safety valves. I think maybe they eat into Godwin's share. More importantly, I think the option of two big-bodied TEs once again allows Brady to improve his crappy, crappy red zone performance from the last two years.

New England didn't run a Brady offense. They ran a McDaniels offense. I am sure there will be some adaptation between it and what Arians does, but will it cohesively mix in a timely manner? and will Tampa's current weapons get on the same page as Tom? Because that's a big part of what the NE offense does. Every offense requires it's WR's to run option routes, but none with the volume and complexity of NE.

He was chided here for his AB obsession.

Does Brady take a pay cut so they have room under the cap to sign AB?

Interesting thought, but assuming he's actually allowed to sign, do you think there would be anything resembling a guarantee in his contract? It would be so team friendly if it ever happens.

Now We will know if it was Brady or Belichick that was the secret sauce....

I'm just happy the dynasty is over.

Just wait until they call BOB and trade a 4th for Deshaun Watson.
