there will definitely be more "i'm starting this DE on this day and then tossing him back to the FA pool" going on, methinks. yeah.

on the flip side, i think having top end LBs just got more important, and the value of two down thumpers just bumped up a tad.

Hope they fix Ryan Connelly because he's definitely an inside backer and not a DE

Bradley Chubb just went from a borderline top 50 LB to a top 10 DE.

Shaq Barrett went from a borderline top 25 LB to the #2 DE

(above based simply on "Avg ppg" from last year in one of my leagues)

First glance, I'm not seeing that. In tkl heavy the last two years no rush LB finished top 36 both years on a per game basis. The younger Watt just missed in 2018 (37th) and was 29th last year, but he's really the only one that has much effect. There are no rush LB's in the top 20 per game either season and of those that finished between Shaq Barrett last year (the best one - 24th) and Watt in '18 none of them paired their good season with a top 50 season. Feels like cheating to give Chubb credit for 56th and 37th since the latter was in just 4 games, but that's as good as it gets.

Knee jerk, I buy this though. I think it's fair to assume less DL's will be roostered. Waivers on offense in most dyno's are picked clean. And this change has no effect on DB's. So who are those owners going to pick up to replace those less valuable DL's? Potential inside backers.

In one of my IDP leagues

Pre-Change

DT - Hankins, Payne
DE - Campbell, Clowney, Irvin, Lawrence
LB - Bostic, Bush, Evans, McKinney, Von Miller, Preston Smith, Suggs, Vander Esch

Post-Change

DT - Campbell, Hankins, Payne
DE - Clowney, Irvin, Lawrence, Von Miller, Preston Smith
LB - Bostic, Bush, Evans, McKinney, Suggs, Vander Esch

Von Miller and Preston Smith just became much more useful. Campbell shores up my DT position big time.

Calais Campbell with DT eligibility is just rude.

I think some of the changes may not stick. For example re Campbell - https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchart/BAL. Not saying it'll happen, but treating it as a pleasant surprise is probably the right move.

Because as much as Isaiah Simmons owners would love some DE eligibility I can't imagine that holds up.

Fleaflicker has stated they will make it possible for commissioners to change what positions players are listed at.

I'm not really a fan of that and would rather they just fix the glaring mix ups IE Simmons, Connelly etc.

Fleaflicker now has an option to go back to traditional positional assignments:

Settings -> Edit Roster Requirements -> Custom -> upper right button to revert back
