Hawk: The Raiders D is worse!

*Insert ORLY owl .gif*

The point that you don't spend $25M a year on a DE unless you are a Super Bowl contender is apparently lost on the 27 people that still come to the tank. Let's agree to disagree and move on.

But Raiders team D has gotten way worse without Mack.
Lose lose?

i wouldn't call dropping from mid 20's to bottom 20's that dramatic but the bears defense has gone from #3 to #9 to #14 with mack and his huge contract on the bears,so how did mack improve the bears ??? they were 8-8 this yr,same as the raiders

This thread needs to die.

The bottom line is the non Raider fans in the tank can't have it both ways.

You can't say at the same time that Mack is the difference between the Raiders being a Super Bowl contender and missing the playoffs entirely AND that Gruden is a garbage coach and the Raiders are a garbage organization with no hope. Because if the latter is true, we'd be paying $25M + for some Mack highlights on the Raiders FB page and to sell some non retro jerseys for once. If the former is true, then you are saying Gruden is a good enough coach to take this team, if you added Mack to it, to a championship, getting past KC and through a loaded AFC in the process.

It cannot be both. Period.

Nah, if you had Mack, you guys would be in the playoffs at least, right?

With Derek Carr and not Mitch Tribusky which is the main reason the Bears aren't going anywhere. Only a few teams have a chance to get by Mahomes and the AFC but WITH Mack, the Raiders would have a better chance.

I think that's a fair assessment looking at it objectively.

YOUR KIDDING RIGHT ??? if we had mack we would also be losing cap space to the tune of 27 million a yr for the next 3 yrs,try fielding a better team minus 27 million from the cap next 3 yrs, plus we would have had less draft capital from the trade, our defense would be ranked lower cause with mack it was never above 22 and as bad as 28 ranked and our offense would score less minus oline guys, josh jacobs and nelson agholor

hows that for fair and objective

you can always tell who's being objective by who uses the CAP LOCK! :D

The Raiders would have been more likely to be in the playoffs at least once if not more in the past three seasons with Mack. Unless you think the Bears have a better offense than the Raiders. I don't.

Mack is a difference maker.

The Raiders were in the playoffs with Mack. The Bears have been in the playoffs with Mack. Both were not in the playoffs without Mack.

Mack is a difference maker.

This would be the first year where Mack's cap number might be prohibitive to keeping him. But guess what, this is the last year he has GTD money. Every other year previously his cap number would not have been an issue and if anything, it would have prevented the Raiders from making dumb FA signings - psst Tyrell Williams.

Mack is a difference maker.

Let’s see what happens now that we are in a state with no income tax and now that we aren’t playing in a stadium with a dirt infield that reeks of urine and feces before we bring up what the Oakland Raiders did in free agency. It’s a whole new ballgame now.

Bad teams in terrible cities in terrible stadiums have to overpay in order to get free agents. Just how the system works. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And ultimately Mack isn’t making up for Carr being scared, he isn’t making up for Gruden thinking it’s 1999 and that Jon Ritchie is running spider 2 y banana, he isn’t making up for not drafting Derwin James and Devin White and Justin Jefferson, and unless the desired “difference” Mack could have made is getting a participation trophy, and/or not having any gate money from your one playoff game, then it is what it is, and this thread still needs to die ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

exhibit 1 - Jaguars
exhibit 2 - Dolphins (although they are trending the right way)
exhibit 3 - Bucs (non Brady edition)
exhibit 4 - Cowboys
exhibit 5 - Texans
and so on and so forth

But at least you don't have an infield.

Sweet list of teams in states with no state income tax with crime rates much lower than Oakland that play in football only stadiums that likely don’t have sewage pouring into the field. Did you do this all yourself?

The Raiders are still a terrible team in a terrible city that reminds me of sewage pouring in the streets. They will still have to overpay for FAs.

They do have a nice stadium.

But that’s like putting a pretty dress on a pig.
