Eagles are not that bad. That's a good team with some pieces in a terrible division.
Houston will take years to fix with or without Deshaun
The Eagles are in horrible shape.
*How much they're over the cap depends on where it ends up, but somewhere north of $50m.
*They can't easily get out of their big contracts to fix that problem either
*28 yo Wentz $35m ($59m if cut)
*30 yo Fletcher Cox $24m ($21m if cut)
*31 yo Lane Johnson $18m ($39m if cut)
*33 yo Brandon Graham $18m ($17m if cut)
*30 yo Darius Slay $16m ($22m if cut)
*28 yo Javon Hargrave $$15m ($23m if cut)
*32 yo Brandon Brooks $15m ($23m if cut)
*30 yo Zach Ertz $12m ($8m if cut)
*34 yo DeSean Jackson $11m ($6m if cut)
*31 yo Alshon Jeffrey $8m ($11m if cut)
*33 yo Jason Kelce $8m ($10m if cut)
*31 yo Malik Jackson $6m ($13m if cut)
*You probably noticed a similar problem with all of the above. This team has not only performed poorly lately, but they are also old. And most of them are signed beyond '22 with unfriendly dead money situations.
*The young core of the time is essentially just Hurts, Sanders, Reagor, Goedert (UFA after 21), Dillard, Barnett (UFA after 21), and maybe Sweat (also, UFA after 21). If they want to retain any of those expiring guys then they need to rip those veteran band aids off over the next few months and endure a world of hurt this season.
