Good thread on athletic testing and its lack of correlation with RB success:

Tl;Dr - no one test has greater than 1-2% correlation and the 40 has none.

Thank you OAR!
Pretty good timing with that person researching and posting all of that today.

Yards per touch is probably a better analysis/metric than overall total yardage or length of career, which is what the article I found was looking at.

Desire/Effort/Heart. The relentless drive to be the very best. Quantify it in whatever terms you are most comfortable with, but IMO these traits are often more indicative of success in professional athletics. Certainly, physical talent is a must, but what separates the great ones seems to be an inner fire. That is why they miss on so many draftees. The testing for those traits simply does not exist.

Opportunity
Areas they win
Overall talent
Coaching
Usage to maximize the above
Quality of offense
Desire
Etc

It isn't any one thing. It's a mixture of all of that and the ratios vary depending on the situation.

Just ask them if they are or are not Rocky Balboa and go from there.

This is just Simms begging for people to pay attention to him, but Hawkins will be an interesting follow.

Yeah, I dunno if there's a situation in which I'll consider him in our game, but if I were a fan of a team with a creative OC in need of an all purpose CoP I'd be excited about him.
