Way too early look at the playoff picture - AFC

AFC EAST -
Contenders -
Bills - Josh Allen injury opens up the race especially with losses to the Dolphins and Jets already
Jets - The overachievers are in the mix with wins over the Bills and Dolphins. Can the offense keep scoring enough when it counts?
Dolphins - Can the defense stop anyone when it counts is the only question

Pretenders -
Patriots - a sweep of the Jets next week gets them back into the wildcard conversation but I don’t see this team as a playoff contender but it’s not like I’m bias or anything

AFC North -
Contenders -
Ravens - as long as Lamar stays healthy
Bengals - as long as Burrow stays healthy

Pretenders -
Browns - your savior can’t save you this year
Steelers - your savior can’t save you this year

AFC West
Contenders -
Chiefs - they laughed when people said this division was going to be competitive

Pretenders -
Clippers - it’s amazing that there 5-3 because it feels just the opposite
Broncos - nope
Raiders - missing the good ol days of Jack Del Rio

AFC South
Contenders -
Titans - they almost beat the Chiefs in Arrowhead with one player on offense. This team is for real.

Pretenders -
Jaguars - not this year
Texans - not this year
Colts - not this decade

The Easts are the Beasts once again. I wouldn't be surprised if 6 of 8 East teams make the playoffs

Zac Wilson is the wildcard for the Jets. If he can keep the turnovers to a minimum and convert a few 3rd downs a game, they should definitely be playing in January

And I'm not sure the Clippers are out of it just yet considering the season just started. Lakers = yes. Clippers = not yet

5 weeks to play

1. Bills 9-3 on cruise control with Jets up next then Mia in Buff
2. Chiefs 9-3 @Den, then @Hou so 11-3
3. Ravens 8-5 losing Lamar makes them vulnerable
4. Titans 7-5 no competition in the AFC South
5. Bengals 8-4 momentum
6. Dolphins 8-4 hit a road block in the schedule, LAC and Bills next
7. Jets 7-5 let one slip away, @ BUF, then home vs Det and Jags

IN THE HUNT -
Pats 6-6, Chargers 6-6
Three other teams 5-7 but none feel like playoff contenders but if I had to choose, it would be the Raiders

1b Bills
1c Bengals

Then, doesn't really matter in my mind. Some nice stories for some franchises, JETS and Dolphins making the playoffs would be a lot of fun.

Raiders making the playoffs after their start would also be fun.

Ravens are not really very good, even with Lamar, something is just off with them this year. Titans are a bad team in a terrible division, but will get a home game and could win it then get slaughtered by the Chiefs or Bills.
