No I don’t think that’s bell. Ya it’s decent money for a rb, but it’s not going to ruin your cap the next couple of years while your Qb is on his rookie contract.

Considering how poorly he drafted I think it's safe to say they already got rid of most of his guys.

Oh sure, but he had control on players for awhile. It sucks because there is going to be another rebuild next year. Unless they get to at least 500

See you in November.

So pay him 8 million, take on a 25 million cap hit and not a single down for the jets?

Ya ok.

Yeah, Peyton doesnt strike me as the sort of guy whod just be there to say "Yes, Adam" - which is probably the #1 prerequisite for the job.

Hed be as good a hire as any right now, but hed be an awful fit for working w/Gase

I think maybe gase just wants to recapture some of that magic I got him where he's at now.

The NFL would love it if Gase persuaded Manning into that position. He would get years at Jets for it. Probably a decade of sway in the NFL one way or another. Smart move by Gase. Can't imagine Peyton doing it though.

1. Gase wont want a guy he cant trust not to "undermine" him and "audible" out on him w/Personnel decisions as much as he did w/his playcalls on-the-field.

2. ... or to have a GM who would have WAY more sway thanks to his ability & playing career with Johnson than Gase

If Gase thinks Peyton will help his future prospects in NYJ, i think he might be mistaken.

If Manning has any doubts about Gase then I don't think he takes the job (and I don't think he does). If he goes for it then they are all in and have to be getting at least two seasons together.
