New England Patriots at Los Angeles Rams – Sunday 6:30pm
New England Patriots
Tom Brady – – The veteran has the experience to get it done and faces a defense that can be thrown on if you can give the QB time, which the Patriots have done a good job of during the playoffs. So the veteran should be able to get the job done once again.
Sony Michel – – Coming off a huge game as the Patriots have re-committed to the run and the Rams have had some issues against the run at times, so has a good chance to keep the good times rolling.
James White – – His receiving skills could come in quite handy once again against a strong pass rush and he has come up big in many a Super Bowl, so worth a start once again.
Rex Burkhead – – Coming off a nice game thanks to a pair of touchdowns and you never know what Belichick will pull with his running game. But he still seems like the 3rd option and faces a solid run defense, so while he could pay off, may be best to look elsewhere.
James Develin – – Still not getting many bones, so continue to forget about him.
Julian Edelman – – Coming off a nice game and short passes to Edelman could be frequent against a strong Rams pass rush, so he should be able to get the job done once again.
Chris Hogan – – While he shows flashes on occasion, still hard to trust him as probably the 4th option at best in the passing game. Not a bad match-up and he has Tom Brady under center, but still hard to count on.
Cordarrelle Patterson – – Capable of making a big play, but still a risky play due to his lack of touches.
Phillip Dorsett – – A big play or nothing, so he continues to be tough to rely on.
Rob Gronkowski – – Coming off a strong game as the Patriots made a concerted effort to get him more involved and he responded. While he has disappointed this season, he showed he can still get it done and is the best bet at tight end going.
Dwayne Allen – – Still rarely being used as a receiver, so continue to forget about using Allen.
Stephen Gostkowski – – A good Rams defense likely will struggle to stop the veteran Patriots offense, but they could force them to settle for some FG attempts, which could lead to another big day for the veteran.
New England Patriots – – The defense has two weeks to prepare for a young QB, which could allow them to add some wrinkles and confuse the youngster, which could lead to some mistakes.
Los Angeles Rams
Jared Goff – – I would not be surprised to see Belichick try to take away the run and force the inexperienced QB to beat him and the Patriots have had issues against the pass. So if he can deal with the pressure, he could put up some strong numbers.
Todd Gurley – – Having two weeks to heal up should help and it sounds like the Rams will be ready to get him more involved. The Patriots likely will key on the running game, but his receiving skills should help as well, so he should still be able to get his.
C.J. Anderson – – Coming off another strong game and likely will be involved once again. But the extra week for Gurley is sounding like he will be back to option A with Anderson as the 2nd fiddle. Still could get the job done, though the Patriots are liable to try and take away the run.
John Kelly – – Probably will be lucky to touch the ball, so not an option you want to be looking at.
Justin Davis – – In the same boat as Kelly, so continue to forget about Davis.
Brandin Cooks – – Coming off a nice game and the Patriots may force Goff to beat them with the pass and Cooks is a weapon that can give his former team some fits and lead to a big day.
Robert Woods – – Coming off a down game, but he has been pretty good most of the season and has a great match-up and the Rams passing game will likely need to come up big, so should be a nice week to rely on his services.
Josh Reynolds – – Has been inconsistent, but the Rams passing game may need to come up big and he was solid last time out, so could pay off. Is a risky play due to his inconsistency, but could be a nice bargain play.
JoJo Natson – – Likely won’t touch the ball enough to consider him much of a fantasy threat.
Gerald Everett – – His good times are too rare to feel good about his chances, especially with Higbee also in the mix.
Tyler Higbee – – Coming off a nice game and certainly is capable of finding the end zone, but still a risky play with so many other options for Goff to choose from.
Greg Zuerlein – – Dealing with an injured foot, but is expected to be ready to roll for the big game, so continue to consider him a strong option per usual.
Los Angeles Rams – – The Rams can really get after the QB, but the Patriots have done a good job of keeping the pressure off Brady, so something has to give. Certainly capable of making a big play or two, but still a risky play against a veteran offense.
