Grinders and Gambles is waiver wire duct tape for teams needing to go a little deeper on wires.
Grinders are the guys who will get you some points. They may not have an upside but they will grind out 5-15 points depending on your scoring.
Gambles can get you a goose egg but also have tremendous upside.
(D) added Dynasty/Keeper value
Wubby Alert – Potential security blanket for a team or quarterback.
Bryce Petty – Fitzpatrick is a hot mess. He couldn’t get it together against the Dolphins. They may test out Petty soon to see what they have. If they do and you are in a deep multi-QB league he could help. Seriously, this is sad, sad, desperation territory. Not just for you…also for the Jets.
Case Keenum – I am just going to leave this right here. Desperate GAMBLE.
Cody Kessler – Every time I lament being a Dolphins fan, the Browns always remind me it could be worse. This is fantasy football. There is plenty of gold to be mined from this team and a GAMBLE in Kessler in multi-QB leagues.
Colin Kaepernick – Don’t get too excited. It was the Saints. With that said, he is a GAMBLE
Kenneth Dixon – Keep in dynasty, stash if you can in a redraft and are looking at playoffs. He got a little more work last week. GAMBLE/STASH (D)
Dion Lewis – He is going to be back soon. GRAB/GAMBLE (D)
Kapri Bibbs – GRAB/GAMBLE. If he can keep a good chunk of the carries he could be a GRINDER with great upside.
Chris Thompson – PPR GRINDER.
Ty Montgomery – He may be back to WR soon but he is an undeniable talent right now. GRAB/GAMBLE. (D)
Tim Hightower – Last week was actually silly good. Ingram clearly has earned enough confidence that it will be a shared backfield and they aren’t always going to get almost 250 on the ground. Ingram is still the better back and the one you want for dynasty, but Hightower is a nice GRINDER with great upside. I won’t even bother listing him next week because if he wasn’t gone already he is going now. GRAB
Ronnie Hillman – He got some work last week and the amazing Washington run defense awaits them. GAMBLE
