GRINDERS and GAMBLES: Week 13

Grinders and Gambles is waiver wire duct tape for teams needing to go a little deeper on wires.

Grinders are the guys who will get you some points. They may not have an upside but they will grind out 5-15 points depending on your scoring.

Gambles can get you a goose egg but also have tremendous upside.

(D) added Dynasty/Keeper value

Wubby Alert – Potential security blanket for a team or quarterback.

QUARTERBACK

Jeff Goff – The Pats are not the Saints. Temper expectations. If you need a body for a multi-QB he might get you a few but he is a GAMBLE (D)

Ryan Fitzpatrick – If I am in a bind because I have Mariotta, Fitz is where I might look. We all know what he is but he is playing Indy and might give you a nice game.

Matt Barkley – Desperate times call for desperate measures. If you need someone he has the 49ers and might get you a decent line. GAMBLE

Robert Griffin III – If you have a little room I would go with RG3 and hold out for him to make it back for playoffs. It could still be one of the other QBs but if I have to start a Brown QB RG3 is the one with the upside. GAMBLE

Scott Tolzien – You have a 2QB league with an OP spot and everyone on your team is on bye or injured. I am sure Scott Tolzien is a lovely person but for fantasy value he is only really an option if you have no one else for that slot. I am in multiple super flex leagues including the infamous Fishbowl (SFB480). Tolzien is hanging out on wires. With that said, he can get 10-15 points for you if you need it GAMBLE

RUNNING BACK

Shaun Draughn – He is turning into a nice little PPR GRINDER.

Dion Lewis On the off chance he didn’t get picked up…bid every cent you have left on him. GAMBLE/GRAB

Rex Burkhead –  The Bengals look terrible. If you need help Burkhead should be a low end GRINDER

Denard Robinson – The Jags, because someone needs to make the Bengals look good. Robinson is behind the (oft) injured Chris Ivory and the currently injured T.J. Yeldon. He might get you a few points if there are no other options and you need a couple points while your RBs are on bye.

Wendell Smallwood/Kenjon Barner – Green Bay is tough to run on. Sproles and Matthews are ahead of them but if you have a spot to snag for playoffs or need a desperation play give them a grab. (D)

Alfred Morris – because they may start to rest ‘Zeke right around fantasy playoffs.

Charles Sims – He is back at practice and could be back in time for playoffs. He could be the pass catching back against the Saints weeks 14 and 16. Grab him if someone dumped him PPR GRINDER/GRAB

I suffer from an undying obsession with fantasy football. Former Lee Evans owner, I am not proud. Admitting you have a problem is the first step, I would get to the second one but I have lineups to set. Follow me on Twitter @leedoglaw
