Grinders and Gambles is waiver wire duct tape for teams needing to go a little deeper on wires.

Grinders are the guys who will get you some points. They may not have an upside but they will grind out 5-15 points depending on your scoring.

Gambles can get you a goose egg but also have tremendous upside.

(D) added Dynasty/Keeper value

Wubby Alert – Potential security blanket for a team or quarterback.

As the season’s end approaches the wires will be getting thin. But in redraft you will see less competition for players as teams fade out and teams may cut players to reinforce other positions. In dynasty, teams out of contention may be cutting some grinder veterans to stash some young blood.

Desperation multi-QB –

Robert Griffin III – Best GAMBLE that might be on deep wires. If he can get healthy and stay healthy he can help a team. Of course, that is a pretty big if but that’s why it’s called gambling.

Bryce Petty – That moment when you are eyeballing JETS’ QBs is not a good sign for a fantasy team. He qualifies for the QB position if you need one. (D)

Matt Barkley – Probably the closest to a GRINDER on deeper wires. Also worth a stash in very deep 1QB leagues. (D)

Running Backs

Rex Burkhead – He is GRINDING out points in Gio’s absence and could serve as a nice flex over the next few weeks.

Charles Sims – A GRINDER regular last year and slated to return. If he resumes even some of his role against the delightful matchup of the Saints defense (twice) he’ll be worth an add.

Justin Forsett – Forsett is likely to fade into stories of football past soon but while he is still around grab him if you need a crazy deep GAMBLE for the playoffs.

Peyton Barber – If you aren’t competing and have a deep enough bench stash Barber and see what happens. He may not work out in Tampa but maybe he bounces somewhere he can help your team. (D)

Jalen Richard – Has been playing well and is a nice snag as a weekly GAMBLE.

Marcel Reece – Reece may never touch the ball but the versatile fullback has had some great games in his past. A desperation GAMBLE if you are depleted but still competing.
