Grinders and Gambles is waiver wire duct tape for teams needing to go a little deeper on wires.
Grinders are the guys who will get you some points. They may not have an upside but they will grind out 5-15 points depending on your scoring.
Gambles can get you a goose egg but also have tremendous upside.
(D) added Dynasty/Keeper value
Wubby Alert – Potential security blanket for a team or quarterback.
Tom Savage – This is my favorite “I am desperate and all my QBs are toast” GAMBLE. He is starting this week against the Bengals and unlike Brock Osweiler, Savage seems to be aware that there are receivers on his team. Plus his name is Savage.
Joe Flacco – After beating up my Dolphins, Flacco has been thoroughly unimpressive. So unimpressive he is probably on the wire on one-quarterback leagues. If you need a QB, Flacco may GRIND out 10-15 points for you in a tough match up against the Steelers.
Matt Barkley – He may still be around in redrafts since he didn’t really come on until the last few games and he has Washington this week.
Robert Griffin III – He has the injury-plagued San Diego defense this week. Keep your expectations low but he could get you points. GAMBLE
Carson Wentz – Wentz has been dropped in a ton of redrafts. He has the Giants at home this week and could potentially GRIND out 15-20 points for you and he has upside.
Charles Sims – He has New Orleans this week and he should be a nice GRINDER with tremendous upside.
Justin Forsett – He is probably owned. But if he is around, he could GRIND you out some points against Kansas City.
Jerick McKinnon – Did someone drop him since AP is back? If you are desperate for a body he may get you some points. The key word is may. Don’t start him against the Pack unless you are desperate. GAMBLE.
Robert Turbin – He had two vultures…I mean touchdowns last week. He is a GAMBLE and still playing second fiddle to Gore.
Dion Lewis – For reasons I don’t understand, he is still out on wires. Why is he out on wires? GRAB. (D)
