GRINDERS and GAMBLES: Week 6

Grinders and Gambles is waiver wire duct tape for teams needing to go a little deeper on the waiver wire.

Grinders are the guys that will get you some points. They may not have an upside but they will grind out 5-15 depending on your scoring.

Gambles can get you a goose egg but also have tremendous upside.

(D) added Dynasty/Keeper value

Wubby Alert – Potential security blanket for a team or QB.

QUARTERBACK

Ryan Fitzpatrick – Still a GAMBLE for Week 8 and a desperation play for all others.

Marcus Mariota – He was dropped to some wires in 1-QB leagues. His next two games are the fearsome Cleveland and Indianapolis defenses and his wubby, Delanie Walker, is back. Fun GAMBLE

Trevor SiemianPaxton Lynch didn’t exactly run away with the job.

Case Keenum – He is still here because he is still on your wire unless every starting quarterback is taken. He had a rough week against a legit defense but should bounce back. DESPERATION GAMBLE

Brian Hoyer – See Case Keenum. Cutler looks to be relocating after this season.

Josh McCown/Cody Kessler – They may be back. Someone may start. If you are really lucky they may make it through the game. GAMBLE for 2-QB leagues

Colin Kaepernick – He is probably already on a bench in 2-QB leagues which is where you really would want to grab him. If not, go ahead and snag him.

RUNNING BACK

Josh Ferguson – Still a low end PPR (D) GAMBLE

Kenneth Dixon – He did outstanding last week, and by outstanding I mean he went for negative yards and was completely overshadowed by Terrance West. This is really waivers for the leagues where West is taken but you know…on the off chance he is there you need to grab him. Also snatch Dixon when he is cut out of frustration. Marc Trestman was just fired, in part for an anemic running game. I imagine they will correct that.

Dwayne Washington/Zach Zenner – Either one can be a low-end GAMBLE behind Theo Riddick depending on health. Don’t bank on them unless you just need a shot at any points you can get. Washington should be on dynasty rosters, Zenner is a flier. (D)

James White – I am just going to keep him here as a PPR GAMBLE.

D.J. Foster –  DEEP STASH/GAMBLE(D)

Bobby Rainey – Emerging as a nice PPR GRINDER.

Chris Thompson – If he is available he is a PPR GRINDER

Jalen Richard – He could be hit or miss as a GAMBLE. Oakland seems a bit like little league right now. Everyone is getting a chance to carry the ball. Let’s see what happens if they get a healthy Murray.

Jamize Olawale – See Jalen Richard.

I did point out previously that Cameron Artis-Payne should be owned. He is, right? Especially in dynasty. If not, fix it. J-Stew will return eventually but he isn’t a model of health. (D)

James Starks – Because Eddie Lacy may be taking a trip to Cabot Cove soon with his appearance on the injury report.

Devontae Booker – Getting some love. Should already be owned in dynasty but may be available as a nice PPR GAMBLE in redraft.
