Grinders and Gambles is waiver wire duct tape for teams needing to go a little deeper on wires.
Grinders are the guys who will get you some points. They may not have an upside but they will grind out 5-15 points depending on your scoring.
Gambles can get you a goose egg but also have tremendous upside.
(D) added Dynasty/Keeper value
Wubby Alert – Potential security blanket for a team or quarterback.
Ryan Fitzpatrick – Still a GAMBLE for Week 8 and Week 9 (because I don’t think Miami’s defense is that good.)
Landry Jones – While Ben is out, Jones is the starter. It isn’t pretty but he did outscore a whole bunch of QBs people spent good money on so he is valid for multiple QB leagues.
Jay Cutler – He may have been tossed in a redraft multiple flex league. He is there to disappoint you if you need him.
Kenneth Dixon – GRAB him if you need RB help. He should be getting more work this week. GAMBLE
Dion Lewis – Wait, wuh? But White! White is off your wire by now (if he isn’t you should fix that) but Lewis may start practicing. Odds of him being available in leagues with IR is pretty nil but those leagues without that slot potentially have all kinds of gold on their wires.
Remember, teams no longer have to identify their IR-R player so every team has one magic ticket to hand to an IR player who gets healthy. It is like the Golden Ticket from Willy Wonka but with less chocolate and more ice baths.
Chris Thompson – It’s like Little League. Everyone is getting carries. Wheeeeeeeeeeee! If he is available he is a points per reception GRINDER.
Rob Kelley – So Washington may be an RBBC going forward making everyone GRINDERS with upside.
Knile Davis – He did nothing this week but I expect more. He may get dropped by his owner this week. STASH/GAMBLE.
Ty Montgomery – Yes, last week he was in the column below. He may actually belong in this column soon and I have no idea what happens to his value when he makes the switch. You snag him now and worry later. GRAB/GAMBLE.
