IDP Cheat Sheet: Week 3

We’re only two weeks into the 2011 NFL season and already new Individual Defensive Player (IDP) stars are emerging (hello Kam Chancellor, nice to meet you), old stars are scuffling mightily (has DeMeco Ryans even been on the field?), and the injury bug has bitten some fantasy teams on the butt (Thomas Davis, again).

With that in mind, here’s a look at my Top 30 defensive linemen, linebackers and defensive backs for Week 2 of the 2011 season in IDP leagues. Before I get to them, a quick tip: Some players shined in Week 1, and some stunk, and that’s reflected in the rankings to an extent (as are matchups, which are always important), but Week 1 was just that … one
. Too early to be freaking out about Rey Maualuga or Rolando McClain (well, maybe a little with McClain) just yet.

These rankings are based on
Default IDP Manor Scoring, which awards one point for solo tackles, .5 points for assisted tackles, two points each for fumbles forced and recovered, four points for interceptions, sacks, and safeties, six points for defensive touchdowns, and one point for passes defensed. It’s a balanced scoring system, so if your IDP league is especially tackle–heavy or big play–heavy some players may move up (or down) a few spots.
