ARIZONA 7 – ATLANTA 41


Arizona Tim Hightower ripped off an 80-yard touchdown run on their third possession for their only touchdown of the day. They did drive down the field before the end of the first half but missed on a field goal attempt. The Cardinals could only get past midfield twice as they were held in check all day. Derek Anderson threw two interceptions and Max Hall took over at quarterback in the final minutes and threw a third interception.

Atlanta Roddy White scored on a 7-yard touchdown pass with their first possession and the Falcons never looked back, scoring a touchdown or kicking a field goal on 7 of 11 possessions. Matt Ryan matched a career high with three touchdown passes. Michael Turner and Jerious Norwood both left the game with injuries and third string running back, Jason Snelling filled the void in a big way. Snelling totaled 186 yards of offense, running in a pair of touchdowns and scoring a third through the air.

Buffalo – The Bills first two possessions resulted in two three-and-outs before Fred Jackson scored on a 3-yard touchdown run for their only score of the day. Despite gaining zero net yards in the first quarter it was still a game as they went in at halftime trailing 13–7. Trent Edwards threw an interception on their first possession of the second half and they went three-and-out before Edwards threw his second interception of the day. They only managed 186 yards of offense.

Miami – The Dolphins first possession was highlighted by a 46-yard pass to Brandon Marshall as they marched down the field and the drive ended in a 5-yard touchdown pass to Brian Hartline. The Minnesota defense stiffened and held them in check for the rest of the game as they only managed 226 yards of offense. Their other touchdown came on a defensive fumble recovery in the end zone. Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams each had a fumble.

Minnesota – The Vikings marched down the field on their first possession and turned the ball over on downs due to a batted pass at the line of scrimmage on the Miami 26 yard line. Two possessions later they turned the ball over on an interception at the goal line. On their first possession of the second half Brett Favre fumbled the ball on a sack in the end zone and it was recovered by Miami. The next possession resulted in another drive down the field and ended with Favre throwing an interception near the goal line. Adrian Peterson ran in for a 1-yard touchdown and they kicked a 28-yard field goal before Favre threw his third interception of the day. Their next drive stalled as Peterson was stuffed on fourth down at the Miami 1 yard line.

Kansas City Matt Cassel threw two interceptions in the first half and only led the team down the field one time to come away with a 35-yard field goal. The defense returned an interception in the first half for their only touchdown of the game. They came out and drove down the field and kicked a 26 yard field goal on their first possession of the second half before adding another field goal that was good for 23 yards. They were faced with 4th-and-inches at the Cleveland 36 with two minutes left and rather than punt they went for it. Thomas Jones vaulted over the line for the first down and sealed the win.

Peyton Hillis scored on a 1-yard touchdown run and Josh Cribbs scored on a 65-yard touchdown pass. They missed a field goal on their last drive of the first half. The Chiefs defense stiffened in the second half and put them on ice for the rest of the game.

Greg Olsen scored on a 39-yard touchdown pass and Devin Hester scored on a 9-yard touchdown pass before they kicked a 40 yard field goal on their last drive of the first half. Matt Forte scored on a 3-yard touchdown pass for their only scoring drive of the second half.

Dallas Tony Romo threw an interception on their first possession and a second one before the end of the first half. Rookie Dez Bryant returned a punt for a 62-yard touchdown and rookie Chris Gronkowski caught a 1-yard touchdown pass. They kicked a 28-yard field goal on their first possession of the second half. They had to a chance to tie the game up midway through the fourth quarter but David Buehler missed a field goal. Chicago built on their lead and Romo was trying to drive down the team down the field when Roy Williams fumbled as he was trying to fight for extra yards. They managed to kick a 48-yard field goal on their last possession but it was too little too late.

Tampa Bay – The Buccaneers went three-and-out before Earnest Graham scored on a 14-yard touchdown pass. Rookie Mike Williams also scored on a 35-yard touchdown pass in the first half. They went three-and-out before kicking a 24-yard field goal and followed that drive up with a 33-yard field goal to seal the win. The defense shut Carolina down in the second half and created three turnovers.

Carolina – The Panthers went three-and-out on their first possession before scoring two drives later on a 37-yard touchdown pass to Steve Smith for their only score of the day. Turnovers plagued the second half as they went three-and-out on their first possession of the second half. Matt Moore threw an interception and fumbled on the next two drives. Moore was pulled in favor of rookie Jimmy Clausen with ten minutes left in the game. He led the team down the field on his first possession but the drive resulted in a turnover at Tampa Bay’s 1 yard line.

They had two stalled and one three-and-out on their next three drives before LeSean McCoy ran in a 14-yard touchdown. Jeremy Maclin scored on a 9-yard touchdown pass on their final possession of the first half. McCoy scored on runs of four yards and 46 yards in the second half as the Eagles held off a late rally by the Lions to secure the win.

Detroit Shaun Hill threw an interception on their opening possession but came back and scored on a 14-yard touchdown run by rookie Jahvid Best on the next drive. They went three-and-out and then kicked a 49-yard field goal. Best scored a 75-yard touchdown on a dump off pass for their last score of the first half. They started out the second half by going three-and-out, throwing another interception, turning the ball over on downs at the Philadelphia 29 yard line and going three-and-out before mounting a comeback. Best scored his third touchdown of the day on a 2-yard run. Calvin Johnson scored on a 19-yard touchdown pass and caught a two-point conversion on the next drive. They recovered an onside kick but failed to move the ball.

Baltimore – The Ravens faced an unrelenting defense for the majority of the game and could not get the passing game on course. Joe Flacco threw four interceptions while completing just 17 passes on 39 attempts for 154 yards with a passer rating of 23.8. He did not complete a pass until the second quarter. He did manage to throw a touchdown pass to Derrick Mason for 31 yards and they also drove down and kicked a field goal for 38 yards in the second half.

Derrick Mason – 6 Targets: 4 deep, big reception for a 31 yard TD.

They had three drives that ended with field goals for 46 yards, 38 yards and 25 yards. That was all it took to seal the win in a tight game that featured more defense than offense from both teams.

Pittsburgh – Rookie Antonio Brown scored on an 89-yard kickoff return to open the game. Dennis Dixon injured his knee early on in the game and did not return. Charlie Batch replaced Dixon but could not get the ball into the end zone throughout the game and they only gained 127 yards of offense. They managed to kick field goals of 36 yards, 34 yards, 25 yards and 27 yards and that was all it took to seal the victory.

Tennessee – The Titans gave up four sacks and turned the ball over seven times as the Steelers defense swarmed over them all game long. They managed to put together one drive in the first half that led to a 21-yard field goal. Chris Johnson had an 85-yard touchdown run wiped out by a penalty during the game. Vince Young was pulled and Kerry Collins nearly rallied the team at the end of the game. He threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Nate Washington and a two-point conversion to Kenny Britt. They recovered an onside kick but came up short as time ran out.
